The SPRP serves as the internal partner that provides the investigator with a database of pensioners identified as eligible for the study. Based on this list, which is compiled according to the inclusion criteria, the principal investigator is responsible for sending a recruitment letter (via email; Visit 1: group information session) to eligible participants to invite them to participate in the study. The SPRP serves as the study's information center. It is responsible for sending a recruitment letter by regular mail (Visit 1: group information session) to eligible participants to invite them to participate in the study. Following this, participants will contact the investigator, who will conduct the individual information session (Visit 2), verify the inclusion criteria, and obtain their verbal consent. Initially, the quantitative component of the study will be conducted via a web link that will be sent to participants so they can complete the online tests and questionnaires (see CRF-Parts 2 through 5) on a dedicated platform on their own (Visit 3). Next, participants who are eligible for the qualitative component of the study will be contacted by phone (visit 4) and, with their consent, will participate in a semi-structured interview (visit 5).","These are former French military personnel who have been out of active duty for more than 6 months and are receiving a military disability pension for PTSD.",[41],{"name":42,"affiliation":43,"role":44},"Anaïs Marmuse, PhD","Service Santé des Armées","PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR",[46],{"name":42,"role":47,"phone":48,"phoneExt":34,"email":49},"CONTACT","+336.42.89.18.97","anais.marmuse@intradef.gouv.fr",[51],{"facility":52,"status":53,"city":54,"state":34,"zip":55,"country":56,"countryCode":57,"cosmosGeoPoint":58,"geoPoint":63,"contacts":64},"Marmuse Anaïs","RECRUITING","Draguignan","83300","France","FR",{"type":59,"coordinates":60},"Point",[61,62],6.46458,43.53692,{"lat":62,"lon":61},[65],{"name":66,"role":47,"phone":48,"phoneExt":34,"email":49},"Marmuse Anaïs, PhD",{"type":68,"investigatorFullName":34,"investigatorTitle":34,"investigatorAffiliation":34,"oldNameTitle":34,"oldOrganization":34},"SPONSOR","100658535","anger-social-cognition-and-post-traumatic-stress-disorder-in-former-french-military-personnel-100658535",false,"NCT07851090","Anger, Social Cognition and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder in Former French Military Personnel","COST","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Be of legal age and between 18 and 45 years old;\n* Be able to speak, read, and write French;\n* Have given oral consent after receiving an oral explanation of the study's objectives and procedures;\n* Sign a written, informed, and electronic consent form after reviewing an information sheet explaining the study's objectives and procedures;\n* Be enrolled in a social security program;\n* Receive a military disability pension (PMI) (temporary or permanent) of 20% or more.\n\nAdditional criterion for the qualitative component: reporting having been exposed to events that could be morally harmful (verified through a specific question in the sociodemographic questionnaire).\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\nPregnant and breastfeeding women;\n\n* Minors;\n* Individuals under administrative or judicial supervision;\n* Adults under legal guardianship;\n* Reservists who have not previously served on active duty;\n* Individuals who cannot be contacted in an emergency;\n* Physical conditions related to trauma, including head injuries;\n* Participants with a comorbid psychotic disorder;\n* Participants who regularly use illicit drugs","ALL","18 Years","45 Years",{"count":80,"type":81},150,"ESTIMATED","OBSERVATIONAL","This is a single-center cross-sectional study conducted on a sample of former military personnel who had been diagnosed with PTSD. The main objective of this study is to test a mediation model positing that PTSD increases individuals' levels of anger through its detrimental effect on social cognitive abilities (Quantitative component). The secondary objectives focus on the impact of alcohol consumption and ACE on the three components (theory of mind, emotional decoding, empathy) of social cognition (qualitative component). A second secondary objective aims to explore the moral harms reported by former military personnel through a qualitative analysis of semi-structured interviews (qualitative component).\n\nPrimary Objective (Quantitative Component): To examine the links between PTSD, anger, and social cognition among French veterans using mediation analyses. The aim is to test whether PTSD (independent variable) indirectly influences individuals' levels of anger (dependent variable) through its effect on social cognition (mediating variable).\n\nSecondary Objectives:\n\n* Quantitative component: to examine other factors associated with PTSD that may influence social cognitive abilities, such as alcohol consumption and experiences of childhood abuse (Abuse Childhood Experience-ACE);\n* Qualitative component: to explore the psychological trauma experienced by military personnel through a qualitative analysis of semi-structured interviews.\n\nEvaluation criteria:\n\nMain Components:\n\nQuantitative Component\n\nSelf-report scales for PTSD, anger, and empathy, as well as two social cognition tasks:\n\n* PCL-5 - Posttraumatic Checklist-5\n* STAXI-2 - Spielberger's State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory-2\n* EQ - Empathy Quotient\n* MASC - Movie for the Assessment of Social Cognition\n* TREF - Facial Emotion Recognition Test\n\nSecondary:\n\n1.
