Participants will receive standardized written instructions through an electronic link, with verbal or technical assistance available from the research team as needed. Investigators will compare a cadence-increase intervention with a cadence-maintenance control condition. Both groups will complete 8 weeks of their typical at home running program. This study will be conducted entirely remotely, and no in-person study visits will be required. Participants assigned to the cadence-increase group will be instructed to continue their previously planned running program while increasing their running cadence by approximately 10% above their baseline cadence. Their Garmin watch will be programmed to provide an alert when cadence falls below or above the individualized target. Participants assigned to the cadence-maintenance control group will also continue their previously planning running program. Their Garmin watch will be programmed with cadence alerts intended to support maintenance of their baseline average cadence. The active intervention period will last eight weeks. Study measures will be collected at baseline, immediately following the eight-week intervention, and at six months. Electronic questionnaires will be used to assess urinary-incontinence symptoms and other relevant pelvic-floor symptoms.\n\nThe study is designed to determine whether a low-cost, fully remote, wearable-guided modification of running cadence can reduce SUI symptoms in parous runners.",[37,43],{"label":38,"type":39,"description":40,"interventionNames":41},"Cadence increase group","EXPERIMENTAL","Participants will log running data and set cadence alarms to increase running cadence by 10%",[42],"Other: Cadence Increase",{"label":44,"type":45,"description":46,"interventionNames":47},"Cadence Maintenance Arm","PLACEBO_COMPARATOR","Participants will log their running data and set cadence alarm to maintain cadence.",[48],"Other: Cadence Maintenance",[50,54],{"type":6,"name":51,"description":52,"armGroupLabels":53,"otherNames":28},"Cadence Increase","Utilizing cadence alarm on a garmin device, the intervention group will attempt to increase their running cadence by 10%.",[38],{"type":6,"name":55,"description":56,"armGroupLabels":57,"otherNames":28},"Cadence Maintenance","Participants will use cadence alarms to maintain preferred running cadence.",[44],[59],{"name":60,"affiliation":5,"role":61},"Nicole Ron, PT, DPT","PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR",[63],{"name":64,"role":65,"phone":66,"phoneExt":28,"email":67},"Sally Olmstead","CONTACT","316-641-6192","olmstead.sally@mayo.edu",[69],{"facility":5,"status":70,"city":71,"state":72,"zip":73,"country":74,"countryCode":75,"cosmosGeoPoint":76,"geoPoint":81,"contacts":82},"RECRUITING","Rochester","Minnesota","55905","United States","US",{"type":77,"coordinates":78},"Point",[79,80],-92.4699,44.02163,{"lat":80,"lon":79},[83,84],{"name":64,"role":65,"phone":66,"phoneExt":28,"email":67},{"name":85,"role":65,"phone":86,"phoneExt":28,"email":87},"Nicole Ron","505-480-4548","nicolejron@gmail.com",{"type":61,"investigatorFullName":89,"investigatorTitle":90,"investigatorAffiliation":5,"oldNameTitle":28,"oldOrganization":28},"Nikki Ron","Principal Investigator","100656870","effectiveness-of-an-8-week-independent-cadence-retraining-program-on-stress-urinary-incontinence-in-parous-runners-a-randomized-controlled-trial-100656870",false,"NCT07829692","Effectiveness of an 8-week Independent Cadence Retraining Program on Stress Urinary Incontinence in Parous Runners.","Effectiveness of an 8-week Independent Cadence Retraining Program on Stress Urinary Incontinence in Parous Runners: A Randomized Controlled Trial.","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Healthy\n* Nonpregnant\n* Female volunteers\n* Self-reported urinary incontinence during running with history of at least one prior delivery after 32 weeks gestation and who run 6 miles\u002Fweek with a preferred cadence of less than or equal to 170 steps per minute determined via personal report from current Garmin watch data.\n* Participants must own their own or have access to a Garmin watch.\n* Participants must read, speak, and understand English sufficiently to provide informed consent and complete study procedures and questionnaires.\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Unwillingness to complete all components of the study\n* Urge only urinary incontinence\n* \\\u003C3 months postpartum or current pregnancy\n* History of prolapse repair or incontinence surgery\n* Participants will also be excluded if they do not own or utilize a Garmin watch that provides cadence assessment and alarm.",true,"FEMALE","18 Years",{"count":102,"type":103},66,"ESTIMATED","INTERVENTIONAL",[106],"NA","The purpose of this research is to assess the impact of an eight-week home cadence training program on stress urinary incontinence symptoms in parous women.",[109],"Stress Urinary Incontinence","2026-09-19",{"date":112,"type":113},"2026-09-23","ACTUAL",{"date":115,"type":113},"2026-08-05",{"date":117,"type":103},"2029-08-05",{"name":5,"class":6},1]
