The first two intervention components will be implemented and piloted, while the alternative response unit will be evaluated solely for acceptability and feasibility.\n\nThis mixed-methods, solutions-oriented prospective cohort study has the following aims: Aim 1a: Determine the acceptability and feasibility of using AI to reinforce officers' de-escalation training, avoid using force, increase cite and release when eligible, and refer civilians to behavioral health, public health, and social service organizations. Aim 1b: Assess the acceptability and feasibility of digitizing required paperwork to reduce arrests for low-level offenses where arrests are not statutorily required. Aim 1c: Determine the acceptability and feasibility of an alternate response unit for behavioral health 911 calls, emphasizing stakeholder inquiry to assess appropriateness and potential impact. Aim 2a: Pilot AI software and evaluate outcomes related to use of force, citations instead of arrests, and referrals to social, behavioral, and public health services, assessing how implementation processes influence effectiveness. Aim 2b: Pilot digitized cite \\& release paperwork, evaluating arrest and citation outcomes, with a focus on workflow adoption and officer behavior change. Aim 2c: Reduce officers' moral injury by empowering citation over arrest for eligible civilians, examining how the intervention and support processes affect individual well-being (job satisfaction, depression, and anxiety).",[37,43,47],{"label":38,"type":39,"description":40,"interventionNames":41},"Use of AI","ACTIVE_COMPARATOR","Use of an AI assistant by police to reduce use of force and traumatizing experiences.",[42],"Behavioral: Software enabled assistance",{"label":44,"type":39,"description":45,"interventionNames":46},"Digitizing Cite & Release Paperwork","Putting a paper form into digital format to increase ease of use of the citation over arrest process.",[42],{"label":48,"type":39,"description":49,"interventionNames":50},"Alternative Response Unit","Acceptability and feasibility study to determine local political willingness to pilot test a stand-alone alternate response unit to respond to behavioral health crisis calls.",[42],[52],{"type":53,"name":54,"description":55,"armGroupLabels":56,"otherNames":28},"BEHAVIORAL","Software enabled assistance","Software enabled analysis to identify heightened stress level in police indicating a need for additional support to facilitate their well-being leading to improved job performance.",[48,44,38],[58],{"name":59,"affiliation":60,"role":61},"Nolan Kline, PhD, MPH, CPH","University of Central Florida","PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR",[63,68],{"name":64,"role":65,"phone":66,"phoneExt":28,"email":67},"Linda Fulmer, M.Ed.","CONTACT","817-451-8740","lindafulmer@sbcglobal.net",{"name":59,"role":65,"phone":69,"phoneExt":28,"email":70},"407.266.1000","nolan.kline@ucf.edu",[72],{"facility":5,"status":73,"city":74,"state":75,"zip":76,"country":77,"countryCode":78,"cosmosGeoPoint":79,"geoPoint":84,"contacts":85},"RECRUITING","Fort Worth","Texas","76103","United States","US",{"type":80,"coordinates":81},"Point",[82,83],-97.32085,32.72541,{"lat":83,"lon":82},[86,87,91],{"name":64,"role":65,"phone":66,"phoneExt":28,"email":67},{"name":88,"role":65,"phone":89,"phoneExt":28,"email":90},"Tamara Johnson, BS","214-552-5456","tjohnson@ensoapothecary.com",{"name":64,"role":61,"phone":28,"phoneExt":28,"email":28},{"type":93,"investigatorFullName":28,"investigatorTitle":28,"investigatorAffiliation":28,"oldNameTitle":28,"oldOrganization":28},"SPONSOR","100659190","improving-officer-and-civilian-health-100659190",false,"NCT07860164","Improving Officer and Civilian Health","Improving Officer and Civilian Health Improving Officer and Civilian Health Through Macro-level Changes in North Texas: Phase 2: Intervention Pilot Testing","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n1. To date, most studies have focused on improving health outcomes related to law enforcement from a microlevel perspective, with particular attention to individual and behavioral factors. Such a focus misses the broader macro-level factors that perpetuate occupational harms. To address this gap, this study uses the PRECEDE-PROCEED model of intervention development to examine modifiable macro-level factors contributing to adverse occupational health outcomes for law enforcement and civilians. Using a mixed-method design and partnering with local law enforcement agencies, the investigators will implement and test an intervention to reduce occupational health harms related to law enforcement.",[111,112,113,114],"Behavior and Behavior Mechanisms","Social Sciences","Human Activities","Public Health","2026-10-02",{"date":117,"type":118},"2026-10-06","ACTUAL",{"date":120,"type":118},"2026-07-01",{"date":122,"type":105},"2028-09-19",{"name":5,"class":6},1]
