Pathologists carefully inspect the entire specimen's appearance and assess the surgical resection plane and capture complete photographs for documentation purposes before further sectioning the specimen. During specimen processing, the CRM is initially marked with ink or other markers. After fixation, macroscopic data are recorded, and the entire length of the intestine is cut into cross-sections at intervals of 3-4 millimeters. These sections are then undergoing subsequent systematic pathological examination. However, the surgeon will be involved in the Japanese pathological investigation method. Intraoperative markings will be made 10 cm bilaterally from the primary tumor area. The resected colon will be incised at 1 cm intervals, after which the pericolic lymph nodes will be harvested. Each single retrieved lymph node will be packed up independently and will be examined by the pathologist.",[15],[31,35],{"name":32,"affiliation":33,"role":34},"Vladimir Balaban","Sechenov University","PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR",{"name":36,"affiliation":33,"role":37},"Petr Tsarkov","STUDY_DIRECTOR",[39],{"name":40,"role":41,"phone":42,"phoneExt":25,"email":43},"Mingze He","CONTACT","+79801881266","hemingze97@gmail.com",[45],{"facility":46,"status":47,"city":48,"state":25,"zip":25,"country":49,"countryCode":50,"cosmosGeoPoint":51,"geoPoint":56,"contacts":57},"Clinic of coloproctology and minimally invasive surgery","RECRUITING","Moscow","Russia","RU",{"type":52,"coordinates":53},"Point",[54,55],37.61781,55.75204,{"lat":55,"lon":54},[58,59],{"name":40,"role":41,"phone":42,"phoneExt":25,"email":43},{"name":32,"role":41,"phone":60,"phoneExt":25,"email":61},"+79889478358","balaban@kkmx.ru",{"type":34,"investigatorFullName":32,"investigatorTitle":63,"investigatorAffiliation":5,"oldNameTitle":25,"oldOrganization":25},"Principal Investigator","100525294","phase-3-comparison-between-the-european-and-japanese-pathological-investigation-for-colon-cancer-space-100525294",false,"NCT06119867","CompariSon Between the EuroPeAn and Japanese pathologiCal InvEstigation for Colon Cancer (SPACE)","Comparison Between the European and Japanese Pathological Investigation for Colon Cancer (SPACE)","SPACE","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Patients diagnosed with colon cancer who underwent colectomy;\n* Patients with pathological confirmed adenocarcinoma;\n* Patients agreed to participate in the study.\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Patients suffered from rectal cancer;\n* Patients diagnosed with colon cancer but did not undergo colectomy;\n* Patients refused participation.","ALL",{"count":74,"type":75},430,"ESTIMATED","INTERVENTIONAL",[78],"PHASE3","In general, the European pathological examination method primarily relies on pathologists and does not require the involvement of surgeons. The Japanese pathological evaluation approach, on the other hand, involves the intervention of surgeons, particularly in the extraction of lymph nodes from fresh specimens and the assessment of specimen quality. Given that the Japanese pathological assessment method lacks systematic evaluation and there is currently no literature clearly demonstrating its diagnostic accuracy, the main objective of this study is to verify whether the diagnostic accuracy of the Japanese pathological investigation method is inferior to that of the European pathological evaluation method.",[81],"Colonic Neoplasms","2026-08-13",{"date":84,"type":85},"2026-08-17","ACTUAL",{"date":87,"type":85},"2023-11-14",{"date":89,"type":75},"2027-12-01",{"name":5,"class":6},1]
