Any elective surgical patient\n2. Age ≥18 years\n3. American Society of Anesthesiologists class I to III\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\nParticipants will not be eligible for the study if any of the exclusion criteria is present:\n\n1. Pregnancy - patients will be asked if they are pregnant or not and screened post-consent from their medical chart.\n2. History of diaphragmatic dysfunction\n3. Previous surgical procedures on the lung, thorax or diaphragm.\n4. Inability to understand the study activities and provide informed consent when explained about the study and the consent process\n5.
