The recruitment of N=200 participants with MCI is planned, who will initially be stratified into two strata: high adherence to the MeDi (n=100) and moderate adherence to the MeDi (n=100). Subsequently, participants within each cohort will be randomized in a 1:1 ratio to receive either SUPOL or placebo, creating 4 groups of n=50 individuals:\n\n* Group 1: High adherence to the MeDi and SUPOL intake\n* Group 2: High adherence to the MeDi and placebo intake\n* Group 3: Moderate adherence to the MeDi and SUPOL intake\n* Group 4: Moderate adherence to the MeDi and placebo intake.\n\nThe assessment and grading of participants' adherence to the MeDi at baseline will be performed using the MedDietScore. Participants will be classified as follows:\n\n* Moderate adherence to the MeDi: MedDietScore 21-35\n* High adherence to the MeDi: MedDietScore 36-55\n* Patients with low adherence to the MeDi (MedDietScore 0-20) will be excluded from the study to ensure the homogeneity of the comparison groups.\n\nDURATION: The duration of the intervention will be 12 months, while the neuropsychological assessment and laboratory testing will be performed at baseline, after the end of the intervention at 12 months and at 18 months (6 months after the completion of the intervention). The total study duration will be 18 months.\n\nLOCATION: The study will be conducted in Thessaloniki and will recruit patients having diagnosed with MCI from the outpatient clinic 1st Neurological Clinic of the General University Hospital \"AHEPA\" (AHEPA) and the Greek Association of Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders (Alzheimer Hellas).\n\nSCREENING - RANDOMIZATION - BASELINE (Visit 1): Patient eligibility will be determined during Visit 1. MCI is considered a prodromal stage of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and the progression to this neurodegenerative disease, renders the patients heavily dependent on their relatives and the society, which creates a huge psychological and financial burden, since no effective treatment exists for MCI and AD to this day. Mediterranean diet (MeDi) displays beneficial effects on the cognitive function of both healthy individuals and cognitive impaired patients. High Phenolic Early Harvest Extra Virgin Olive Oil (HP-EH-EVOO) is a natural product that contains high concentrations of the substance Oleocanthal (OLC), while at the same time it has been shown to exert beneficial properties on the cognitive function of cognitive impaired individuals, as well as on the slowing down of the decline of cognitive function.\n\nAIM: The main hypothesis that will be evaluated is whether the combined approach of the MeDi pattern and the concurrent intervention with the administration in a capsule form of the supplement containing olive oil polyphenols with the main substance being Oleocanthal (SUPOL), could constitute a considerable strategy of management of MCI patients.\n\nStudy Type: Investigational Study Design, Allocantion: Randomized Intervention Model, Parallel Assignment Masking: Double Blind (Subject, Outcome Assessor - Investigator) on Supplement, Primary Purpose: Prevention.",[206],"Mild Cognitive Impairment",[208,209,210,211,212,213],"Mediterranean diet","Western type diet","Olive oil polyphenols","Oleocanthal","Mild cognitive impairment","Alzheimer disease","2026-10-04",{"date":216,"type":217},"2026-10-07","ACTUAL",{"date":219,"type":217},"2025-01-31",{"date":221,"type":200},"2029-11-30",{"name":5,"class":6},2]
