Ranging from atelectasis to acute respiratory syndrome, PPCs are associated with increased hospital length of stay and mortality. Cardiac surgery with CPB induces a complex pathophysiological response characterized by ischemia-reperfusion, activation of the contact system and hypoventilation. The individual immune and inflammatory response may contribute to the development of PPCs. Exploring the association between immuno-inflammatory response and post-operative clinical outcomes might enable a better understanding of the mechanism associated with PPCs and contribute to a more personalized approach to patient care.\n\nThis prospective observational cohort study will enroll 100 adult patients scheduled for elective cardiac surgery with CPB.\n\nThe primary objective of this research is to investigate the association between the perioperative immuno-inflammatory profile and the occurrence of PPCs within the first seven days following cardiac surgery under CPB.\n\nTo identify these profiles, blood and bronchoalveolar lavage samples will be collected at 5 (T0 -T4) and 2 (T0-T1) different times respectively.\n\nMultiple biological analyses (RNA single cell, proteomics, flow cytometry, cell culture experiments) will be performed to characterize the immune and inflammatory response to the surgery.\n\nPPCs are defined as atelectasis associated with hypoxemia (PaO2\u002FFiO2 \\\u003C 200), pneumonia or acute respiratory distress syndrome.\n\nThe study hypothesis is that patients who develop PPCs have a different immune and inflammatory response to cardiac surgery with CPB.",[25],"Cardiac Surgery Under Extra Corporeal Circulation",[27,28,29,30,31,32],"pulmonary inflammation","respiratory complications","systemic inflammation","cardiac surgery","extra corporeal circulation","ischemia-reperfusion","NOT_YET_RECRUITING","2026-10-04",{"date":36,"type":37},"2026-10-08","ACTUAL",{"date":39,"type":21},"2026-11",{"date":41,"type":21},"2028-07",{"name":43,"class":44},"Assistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Paris","OTHER",1,{"id":47,"slug":48,"hasResults":11,"nctId":49,"briefTitle":50,"officialTitle":51,"acronym":52,"eligibilityCriteria":53,"healthyVolunteers":11,"sex":17,"minAge":18,"maxAge":4,"enrollmentInfo":54,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":22,"phases":4,"briefSummary":56,"conditions":57,"keywords":4,"overallStatus":58,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":59,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":60,"startDateStruct":62,"completionDateStruct":64,"leadSponsor":66,"locationsCount":45},"100315946","postoperative-morbidity-and-mortality-after-cardiac-surgery-100315946","NCT03393169","Postoperative Morbidity and Mortality After Cardiac Surgery","Evaluation of Post-operative Morbidity and Mortality After Cardiac Surgery Performed in Bichat Hospital","Cardiobase","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* 18 years and older and has legal capacity - cardiac surgery under extra corporeal circulation\n* non objection to record medical information during hospitalization\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n\\-",{"count":55,"type":21},12000,"The local database results from a joint initiative of anesthesic, cardiology and cardiac surgery departements. Its purpose is to record in an exhaustive fashion all the interventions of cardiac surgery performed under extracorporeal circulation in adults at Bichat hospital. This database includes the preoperative characteristics of the patients, the type of surgery, the post-operative complications and the in-hospital mortality.
