Labor is a critical period during which fear, anxiety, and stress related to childbirth may increase, potentially affecting both the course of labor and postpartum emotional well-being. Supportive approaches implemented during this period may contribute to a more positive perception of the childbirth experience and enhance postpartum well-being.\n\nMirror therapy is a non-pharmacological approach that enables individuals to visually perceive their own bodies and the ongoing process, thereby strengthening self-perception and promoting positive body awareness. The use of mirror therapy during labor may increase women's active participation in the childbirth process and enhance their sense of control. It may also support emotional well-being and reduce negative emotional states during the postpartum period.\n\nAccordingly, this study aims to evaluate the effects of mirror therapy administered during labor on postpartum pain, mood, and emotional well-being. The findings are expected to contribute to strengthening midwifery support during childbirth, integrating non-pharmacological approaches into clinical practice, promoting their wider use, and protecting women's psychological well-being. Thus, the study is expected to provide scientific evidence that may inform midwifery education and practice as well as postpartum care policies.",[27,28,29,30],"Labor Anxiety","Labor Delivery","Labor","Labor Pain and to Reduce Pain",[32,33,34,35],"Mirror Therapy,","Childbirth,","Mood,","Postpartum","RECRUITING","2026-08-28",{"date":39,"type":40},"2026-09-01","ACTUAL",{"date":42,"type":40},"2026-08-01",{"date":44,"type":21},"2027-02-27",{"name":46,"class":47},"NURTEN ÖZÇALKAP","OTHER",1,{"id":50,"slug":51,"hasResults":11,"nctId":52,"briefTitle":53,"officialTitle":54,"acronym":4,"eligibilityCriteria":55,"healthyVolunteers":16,"sex":17,"minAge":18,"maxAge":4,"enrollmentInfo":56,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":58,"phases":4,"briefSummary":59,"conditions":60,"keywords":63,"overallStatus":36,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":72,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":73,"startDateStruct":75,"completionDateStruct":77,"leadSponsor":79,"locationsCount":48},"100609148","the-effect-of-crowning-time-on-levator-ani-muscle-avulsion-100609148","NCT07210788","The Effect of Crowning Time on Levator Ani Muscle Avulsion","Evaluation of Crowning Time on the Incidence of Levator Ani Muscle Avulsion","Inclusion Criteria:\n\nPrimiparous women GxT1 At term: ≥ 37+0 weeks of gestation (included) Spontaneous vaginal delivery (SVD) Cephalic presentation History of miscarriage before 20 weeks or with a fetal weight \\\u003C 350g\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\nContraindications to vaginal delivery Assisted vaginal delivery Age under 18 years Shoulder dystocia Extensive pelvic reconstructive surgery (e.g., bladder exstrophy repair) Term intrauterine fetal demise Twin or multifetal pregnancy",{"count":57,"type":21},92,"OBSERVATIONAL","Levator ani muscle is one of the main components of perineal muscles and plays a crucial role in urinary continence and pelvic organ support. An avulsion, detachment from its insertion, of this muscle can occur during vaginal birth. It is well known that this major injury can cause many symptoms such as urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapses. Some risk factors of this important injury have been identified in the literature, such as the use of forceps. However, to date, no study has evaluated the impact of the crowning of the fetal head during labor on perineal muscles, specifically the levator ani muscle avulsion. Hence, the objectives of this study are to evaluate the association i) the time of the crowning of the fetal head during labor and levator ani muscle avulsion, ii) the time of the crowning of the fetal head and urogynecological symptoms, and iii) use of episiotomy and levator ani muscle avulsion. Postpartum primiparous women will undergo a 4D transperineal ultrasound to evaluate their pelvic muscles and complete questionnaires assessing urogynecological symptoms.",[61,62,28,35],"Time of the Crowning of the Fetal Head","Levator Ani Avulsion",[64,65,66,67,68,69,70,71],"levator ani","levator ani avulsion","crowning time","crowning time of the fetal head","primiparous","singleton foetus","vertex position","postpartum","2025-09-29",{"date":74,"type":40},"2025-10-07",{"date":76,"type":40},"2024-04-23",{"date":78,"type":21},"2027-02",{"name":80,"class":47},"Université de Sherbrooke"]
