Ultrasound-guided fascial plane blocks, including the anterior serratus plane block (ASPB) and pectoral-intercostal plane block (PIPB), have emerged as effective and safe regional anesthesia techniques for cardiac surgery, targeting different sensory innervation of the thoracic wall. However, evidence regarding the combined use of these two blocks remains limited. Inadequate intraoperative analgesia may lead to increased opioid requirements, hemodynamic instability, delayed extubation, and prolonged intensive care unit stay. Objective monitoring of nociception may provide valuable information beyond conventional hemodynamic parameters in this vulnerable population.\n\nThis prospective randomized controlled study aims to evaluate the effect of ultrasound-guided parasternal plane block on intraoperative nociception in pediatric patients undergoing cardiac surgery with median sternotomy.
