The most common symptoms patient experience from infection inside the substance of the brain (parenchymal disease) are seizures and headaches. When the infection is either inside the fluid pockets inside the brain (ventricular disease) or in the space around the brain (subarachnoid disease) patients can have chronic headaches, relapsing aseptic meningitis, hydrocephalus, stroke, and may require neurosurgical intervention. The purpose of this study is to treat patients with anthelmintic therapy (praziquantel and\u002For albendazole) and anti-inflammatories in alignment with currently accepted best practices and guidelines, depending on the neurocysticercosis subtype. The purpose of the study is to better understand and characterize clinical, biologic, and management factors during treatment that influence long term outcomes. In order to understand this further we collect patient clinical information, patient survey responses, blood, urine samples, and additional cerebral spinal fluid if already being collected for clinical care.",[25,26],"Cysticercosis","Neurocysticercosis",[28,29,26,30,31,32,33],"Tapeworm","Taenia Solium","Natural History","Seizures","Aseptic Meningitis","Hydrocephalus","RECRUITING","2026-08-15",{"date":37,"type":38},"2026-08-18","ACTUAL",{"date":40,"type":38},"1985-10-07",{"name":42,"class":43},"National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)","NIH",1,{"id":46,"slug":47,"hasResults":11,"nctId":48,"briefTitle":49,"officialTitle":50,"acronym":4,"eligibilityCriteria":51,"healthyVolunteers":15,"sex":16,"minAge":52,"maxAge":53,"enrollmentInfo":54,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":56,"phases":57,"briefSummary":59,"conditions":60,"keywords":4,"overallStatus":63,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":64,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":65,"startDateStruct":67,"completionDateStruct":69,"leadSponsor":71,"locationsCount":4},"100608984","the-impact-of-medical-tv-drama-in-improving-literacy-on-neurocysticercosis-100608984","NCT07208656","The Impact of Medical TV Drama in Improving Literacy on Neurocysticercosis","The Impact of Medical TV Drama in Improving Literacy on Neurocysticercosis: An Online Open-Label Two-Arm Randomized Controlled Trial","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Aged 18 to 35 years\n* Proficient in English (reading and comprehension)\n* Has access to a stable internet connection\n* Possesses a screen-enabled device (e.g., smartphone, tablet, or computer)\n* Has access to the Netflix streaming platform\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Has formal education in medical or health sciences\n* Has a prior diagnosis of neurocysticercosis (NCC)\n* Has previously participated in any NCC-related health literacy or awareness program\n* Lacks access to the Netflix movie platform\n* Below 18 years or above 35 years of age","18 Years","35 Years",{"count":55,"type":21},60,"INTERVENTIONAL",[58],"NA","This randomized controlled trial evaluates whether exposure to a medical television drama improves knowledge of neurocysticercosis (NCC) among young adults.
