Perineural steroid injections under ultrasound guidance are commonly used for conservative management to decrease inflammation and relieve pressure. Pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) is a minimally invasive neuromodulatory technique that delivers electrical pulses to alter pain transmission and promote tissue healing without damaging the nerve structure.\n\nThe objective of this prospective, randomized, double-blind clinical trial is to determine whether combining ultrasound-guided pulsed radiofrequency with perineural steroid injection provides superior pain relief, improved foot function, and higher patient satisfaction compared to perineural steroid injection alone in patients with mild-to-moderate tarsal tunnel syndrome.\n\nA total of 50 adult participants will be randomly allocated to one of two study groups:\n\n* Group A (Active PRF + Steroid Injection): Participants receive ultrasound-guided pulsed radiofrequency applied adjacent to the posterior tibial nerve for 8 minutes (480 seconds), followed immediately by a perineural injection of 10 mL solution containing triamcinolone acetonide, dextrose 5%, and lidocaine 1%.\n* Group B (Sham PRF + Steroid Injection): Participants undergo identical ultrasound-guided needle positioning and sensory\u002Fmotor stimulation testing, followed by 8 minutes of sham radiofrequency (generator switched off), and then receive the identical 10 mL perineural steroid injection.\n\nParticipants will be evaluated prior to the procedure and at 2 weeks, 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months post-intervention to assess pain severity (Visual Analogue Scale), foot function and disability (Foot Function Index), global impression of recovery, and any procedure-related side effects or complications.",[27,28],"Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome","Tibial Neuropathy",[30,31,32,33,34,35,36],"Pulsed radiofrequency","Perineural injection","Ultrasound guidance","Posterior tibial nerve","Triamcinolone acetonide","Nerve entrapment","Neuropathic pain","NOT_YET_RECRUITING","2026-09-18",{"date":40,"type":41},"2026-09-23","ACTUAL",{"date":43,"type":21},"2026-10",{"date":45,"type":21},"2027-11",{"name":47,"class":48},"Assiut University","OTHER",{"id":50,"slug":51,"hasResults":11,"nctId":52,"briefTitle":53,"officialTitle":54,"acronym":4,"eligibilityCriteria":55,"healthyVolunteers":56,"sex":16,"minAge":17,"maxAge":57,"enrollmentInfo":58,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":59,"phases":4,"briefSummary":60,"conditions":61,"keywords":63,"overallStatus":37,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":64,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":65,"startDateStruct":67,"completionDateStruct":69,"leadSponsor":71,"locationsCount":74},"100596666","tibial-nerve-elastography-in-chemotherapy-induced-neuropathic-pain-100596666","NCT07048431","Tibial Nerve Elastography in Chemotherapy-Induced Neuropathic Pain","Evaluation of Chemotherapy-Induced Neuropathic Pain Using Shear Wave Elastography Measurements of the Tibial Nerve","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Age between 18 and 75 years\n* DN4 score ≥4\n* Anatomical suitability for tibial nerve ultrasound and SWE assessment\n* Providing written informed consent\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Presence of diabetes mellitus\n* Alcohol use\n* Polyneuropathy due to genetic or toxic causes\n* Fracture, skin lesion, or edema in the lower extremity\n* Severe systemic diseases (e.g., liver, kidney, heart, or lung)\n* Inability to visualize the tibial nerve anatomically\n* Cognitive or psychiatric disorders preventing cooperation",true,"75 Years",{"count":20,"type":21},"OBSERVATIONAL","This observational study aims to evaluate the tibial nerve stiffness using Shear Wave Elastography (SWE) in patients with chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) compared to healthy volunteers. A total of 25 patients with a DN4 score ≥4 and 25 healthy controls will be assessed. Parameters including nerve diameter, cross-sectional area, depth, and shear wave velocity (V value) will be measured.
