Often, retained blood and clots in the stomach make it difficult for the endoscopist to clearly see the stomach's anatomical structures.\n\nThis study aims to evaluate if administering a medication called Trimebutine Maleate before the endoscopy can help empty the stomach of residual blood and improve the doctor's view. Trimebutine Maleate is a widely prescribed medication that regulates gastrointestinal movement and has a favorable safety profile compared to other medications used for this purpose.\n\nResearchers will include 100 adult patients experiencing acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding who are scheduled for an urgent endoscopy within 24 hours of presentation. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either 50 mg of intravenous Trimebutine Maleate or a matching placebo (saline solution) 60 to 90 minutes before their procedure. All participants will continue to receive standard medical treatment for their bleeding according to normal hospital protocols.\n\nThe primary goal of the study is to compare the clarity of the stomach view between the two groups using a standardized Gastric Visualization Score. The research team will also measure how often the exact bleeding source is successfully identified, the total duration of the procedure, and whether patients require a repeat endoscopy or a stomach washout (gastric lavage).",[27,28,29],"Acute Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding","Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding","Gastrointestinal Hemorrhage",[31,32,33,34,35],"Trimebutine Maleate","Trimebutine","Gastric Visualization","Endoscopy","Esophagogastroduodenoscopy","NOT_YET_RECRUITING","2026-08-01",{"date":39,"type":40},"2026-08-06","ACTUAL",{"date":42,"type":20},"2026-09",{"date":44,"type":20},"2027-10",{"name":46,"class":47},"Assiut University","OTHER",{"id":49,"slug":50,"hasResults":11,"nctId":51,"briefTitle":52,"officialTitle":53,"acronym":4,"eligibilityCriteria":54,"healthyVolunteers":11,"sex":16,"minAge":17,"maxAge":4,"enrollmentInfo":55,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":57,"phases":4,"briefSummary":58,"conditions":59,"keywords":61,"overallStatus":36,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":69,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":70,"startDateStruct":72,"completionDateStruct":74,"leadSponsor":76,"locationsCount":78},"100643768","acute-kidney-injury-in-upper-gi-bleeding-patients-100643768","NCT07636083","Acute Kidney Injury in Upper GI Bleeding Patients","Acute Kidney Injury Following Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding: Incidence and Predictors","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Adult patients aged 18 years or older\n* Patients presenting with clinical features suggestive of acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB), including hematemesis, coffee-ground vomiting, or melena\n* Diagnosis of UGIB confirmed by upper gastrointestinal endoscopy or strong clinical evidence when endoscopy is not immediately available\n* Patients admitted to Sohag University Hospitals (medical wards or intensive care unit)\n* Availability of renal function data, including at least one serum creatinine measurement at admission and serial measurements during hospitalization\n* Availability of baseline renal function (previous serum creatinine within 3-12 months) or estimable baseline during hospitalization\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) on chronic dialysis\n* Patients with a history of renal transplantation\n* Patients with advanced chronic kidney disease stage 5 (eGFR \\\u003C15 mL\u002Fmin\u002F1.73 m²) not on dialysis\n* Patients with lower gastrointestinal bleeding\n* Patients with incomplete or missing essential renal function data\n* Patients discharged or deceased within 24 hours of hospital admission\n* Pregnant patients\n* Patients with acute kidney injury at presentation due to causes other than UGIB",{"count":56,"type":20},200,"OBSERVATIONAL","This study aims to evaluate the incidence of acute kidney injury (AKI) among patients presenting with acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB) at Sohag University Hospitals, and to identify predictors associated with renal impairment in these patients.",[28,60],"Acute Kidney Injury",[62,63,64,29,65,66,67,68],"UGIB","AKI","Renal Impairment","Serum Creatinine","Kidney Function","Variceal Bleeding","Non-variceal Bleeding","2026-06-04",{"date":71,"type":40},"2026-06-09",{"date":73,"type":20},"2026-05-15",{"date":75,"type":20},"2027-05-15",{"name":77,"class":47},"Sohag University",1,{"id":80,"slug":81,"hasResults":11,"nctId":82,"briefTitle":83,"officialTitle":84,"acronym":4,"eligibilityCriteria":85,"healthyVolunteers":11,"sex":16,"minAge":17,"maxAge":4,"enrollmentInfo":86,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":21,"phases":88,"briefSummary":90,"conditions":91,"keywords":92,"overallStatus":95,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":96,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":97,"startDateStruct":99,"completionDateStruct":101,"leadSponsor":103,"locationsCount":5},"100431756","otsc-vs-angiographic-embolization-in-patients-with-refractory-non-variceal-upper-gastrointestinal-bleeding-100431756","NCT04902248","OTSC vs. Angiographic Embolization in Patients With Refractory Non-variceal Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding","Endoscopic Application of Over-the-scope Clips (OTSC) vs. Angiographic Embolization in Patients With Refractory Non-variceal Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding: a Multicenter Randomized Comparison","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* 1\\. In the United Kingdom Audit on acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding, clinical evidence of further bleeding was reported in 13% of patients following the first endoscopy and 27% of them died. The use of OTSC has emerged as an alternative before angiographic embolization(TAE) which is often considered most definitive.\n\nWe propose to define the algorithm in the management of patients with refractory bleeding from their peptic ulcers or other non variceal causes. We hypothesize that endoscopic use of OTSC compares favourably with TAE and both lead to similar outcomes.
