The main questions it aims to answer are:\n\n* How does median nerve activity encode tactile perception during different types of mechanical tactile stimulation in healthy subjects?\n* How can tactile information be artificially encoded and restored through intraneural microstimulation in both healthy subjects and upper-limb amputee participants? How rich and functionally meaningful is the restored sensory information?\n* What are the neurophysiological mechanisms underlying tactile stimulus processing and the associated patterns of brain activation during tactile stimulation?\n\nParticipants will undergo median nerve recordings using microneurography during controlled mechanical tactile stimulation, as well as intraneural microstimulation with specific patterns to evoke near-natural tactile sensations. They will perform perceptual reporting tasks related to stimulus type, intensity, and localization, as well as psychophysical tests under different stimulation conditions. When possible, they will also undergo non-invasive recordings of brain activity using electroencephalography during sensory stimulation.",[29,30],"Upper Limb Amputation","Healthy Subjects",[32,33,34,35],"Microneurography","Intraneural Microstimulation","Somatosensory System","Upper limb amputation","RECRUITING","2026-07-07",{"date":39,"type":40},"2026-07-09","ACTUAL",{"date":42,"type":40},"2024-03-04",{"date":44,"type":23},"2026-12-31",{"name":46,"class":47},"Azienda Ospedaliero, Universitaria Pisana","OTHER",1,{"id":50,"slug":51,"hasResults":11,"nctId":52,"briefTitle":53,"officialTitle":53,"acronym":4,"eligibilityCriteria":54,"healthyVolunteers":11,"sex":18,"minAge":19,"maxAge":55,"enrollmentInfo":56,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":58,"phases":4,"briefSummary":59,"conditions":60,"keywords":66,"overallStatus":36,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":70,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":71,"startDateStruct":73,"completionDateStruct":75,"leadSponsor":77,"locationsCount":48},"100645113","the-relationship-between-lost-extremity-percentage-and-postural-control-neck-and-low-back-pain-daily-living-activities-and-reaction-time-in-individuals-with-unilateral-upper-limb-amputation-100645113","NCT07677969","The Relationship Between Lost Extremity Percentage and Postural Control, Neck and Low Back Pain, Daily Living Activities, and Reaction Time in Individuals With Unilateral Upper Limb Amputation","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Adults aged 18-65 years\n* Unilateral upper limb amputation\n* Use of a myoelectric or bionic prosthesis for at least 1 year\n* Current prosthesis use for a minimum of 3 months\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Bilateral upper limb amputation\n* Additional amputation of another limb\n* Use of passive or cosmetic prosthesis\n* Presence of neurological or other significant orthopedic disorders unrelated to amputation","65 Years",{"count":57,"type":23},15,"OBSERVATIONAL","This observational study aims to examine the relationship between the percentage of limb loss and functional outcomes in individuals with unilateral upper limb amputation. Upper limb amputation can affect posture, balance control, pain levels, daily living activities, hand function, and reaction time. However, limited research has investigated how the amount of limb loss influences these outcomes.\n\nParticipants between 18 and 65 years of age who use a myoelectric or bionic prosthesis will undergo a series of assessments. These assessments include measurements of postural control using a force platform, posture analysis, evaluation of neck and low back pain using a visual analog scale, daily living activities using a validated questionnaire, hand dexterity using the Box and Block Test, and reaction time using a visual stimulus device.\n\nThe study does not involve any intervention or treatment.
