About this trial

The aim of the program to serve as a prototype for future preventive program for AD in the region. The program will recruit elderly participants. Cognitive assessment and lifestyle questionnaire will be performed with each participant to investigator their risk factor associate with AD.

The program will offer medical referral and/or educational program(s) (e.g. tailor-made multidomain preventive measures plan, education talks) for participants who might have possible early AD or with high risk of AD

Eligibility criteria

This trial accepts healthy volunteers

Qualifiers

1. Hong Kong citizens, between 55 - 80 years old.

Disqualifiers

1. No known diagnosis of dementia or other diseases that may affect cognition, e.g., stroke, Parkinson's disease, brain infection, major head injury, major depression, obstructive sleep apnea, alcoholism (e.g., daily > 2 standard drinks for male and > 1 standard drinks for woman).

2. Subject who cannot understand Cantonese

Trial outcomes

Primary outcomes

1

Identification of possible early AD

Using MoCA and retinal Image AD Index to screening participants who have high risk of Alzheimer's Disease

Time frame
At baseline

Secondary outcomes

1

Investigation of the control in AD modifiable risk factors

Using the brain health scores to identify AD modifiable risk factors: (a) cardiovascular risk factors, (b) level of physical activity, (c) level of cognitively stimulating/social activities (CSA)

Time frame
At baseline
2

Implementation of AD preventive measures

Base on the result of brain health score, tailor-made preventive measures among early AD subjects with suboptimal control in risk factors. Compare the results of brain health score after completion of health educational programs. Programs end time varies as they are tailor-made; yet evaluations will be done at 12 month and 24 months after baseline evaluation.

Time frame
End of educational program(s) approximately at 12 months and 24 months
