About this trial

Evaluate the effect of Co-enzyme Q10 on the bone volume in unilateral alveolar cleft repair

Eligibility criteria

This trial accepts healthy volunteers

Qualifiers

age ranged between 10-14 years, with good oral hygiene and general good health

Disqualifiers

patients with syndromes associated with an alveolar cleft, local pathosis at the maxilla that may interfere with surgery, previous grafting attempts, or cleft palate fistulae

Trial design

Design model

Parallel

Treatments tested in this trial

  • Coenzyme Q 10

    Procedure/Surgery

Patients received Coenzyme Q 10 as a graft material in unilateral maxillary alveolar cleft

  • iliac bone graft

    Procedure/Surgery

iliac bone used as a graft for alveolar cleft reconstruction

Treatment groups

12 Participants
are divided into 2 treatment groups
Group A: Iliac bone graftActive comparator 1 intervention
Group B: CoQ10 graftActive comparator 1 intervention

Trial outcomes

Primary outcomes

1

bone volume

V= (A1xT) + (A2 xT) + …….+ (An xT) where: V= volume A= area T= thickness of the axial C.T slice N=number of Slices

Time frame
6 months postoperative

Secondary outcomes

1

bone density

the average bone density will be measured from the CBCT

Time frame
6 months postoperative
2

bone formation ratio

BF% = (formed volume/alveolar defect) ×100%

Time frame
6 months postoperative
