About this trial
This cross-sectional study aims to assess the pattern of gait in patients with multiple sclerosis and to evaluate its relation to cognitive function, visual evoked potentials, and radiological findings.
Eligibility criteria
This trial does not accept healthy volunteersQualifiers
- Age 18 to 55 years
Confirmed diagnosis of multiple sclerosis according to the revised McDonald criteria
Clinically stable (no relapse or steroid treatment within 4 weeks)
Able to walk independently with or without a single assistive device
Disqualifiers
- Other neurological, orthopedic, visual, or vestibular conditions affecting gait
Severe cognitive impairment precluding valid testing
Pregnancy
MRI contraindications
Trial population
Patients with multiple sclerosis attending the Neurology Department outpatient clinic and gait laboratory at Assiut University.

Trial outcomes
Primary outcomes
Mean gait velocity
Mean gait velocity in meters per second measured by quantitative spatiotemporal gait analysis.
Secondary outcomes
Mean cadence
Mean cadence in steps per minute measured by quantitative gait analysis.
Mean stride length
Mean stride length in centimeters measured by quantitative gait analysis.
Mean MoCA score
Mean Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) score (range 0-30, higher scores indicate better cognition).
Mean P100 latency
Mean P100 latency in milliseconds measured by pattern-reversal visual evoked potentials.
