About this trial

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between injury risk and muscle strength, functional performance, and balance in adolescent male soccer players.

Eligibility criteria

This trial does not accept healthy volunteers

Qualifiers

Being between the ages of 10 and 19

Having played football for at least one year

Having sustained an injury resulting in an absence from the field for more than one week during the four months prior to the study

Disqualifiers

Having any health issue or injury at the time of testing

Having any health problem that could prevent the measurements required for the study from being taken

Having a history of injury within the last four months that could hinder the performance of the measurements.

Trial population

Our study includes a single research group consisting of healthy adolescent footballers who have been playing football for at least one year.

Treatments tested in this trial

  • Physical evaluations in footballers

    Other intervention

Injury risk, cough and abdominal muscle strength, functional performance, and balance status of the football players will be evaluated.

Trial outcomes

Primary outcomes

1

Injury risc assessment

The Functional Movement Screening Test will be used to assess injury risc in athletes. Seven exercises are used in this test. Each movement is scored on a scale from 0 to 3, with a maximum total score of 21. As the score from this test increases, the risk of injury decreases.

Time frame
through study completion, an average of 1 year

Secondary outcomes

1

Cough Strength Measurement

Cough force will be assessed using a peak flow meter. The highest value of three attempts will be recorded. The high value obtained indicates good cough strength.

Time frame
through study completion, an average of 1 year
2

measurement of abdominal muscle strength

It will be measured using the sit-up test; abdominal muscle strength increases as the number of sit-ups increases.

Time frame
through study completion, an average of 1 year
3

Functional Performance Assessment

The squat jump will be assessed using the device.

Time frame
through study completion, an average of 1 year
4

Balance evaluation

Balance will be assessed using the Y-Balance Test, and the average distance reached will be recorded.

Time frame
through study completion, an average of 1 year
