About this trial

This observational, multicentric prospective study aims to understand the prevalence and burden of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in people with chronic lung diseases (CLD) across the globe, understanding also geographical variability and the risk factors for acquiring AMR.

The primary objective is to understand the prevalence and burden of AMR in CLD both at a local and gloval level.

Secondary objectives include: 1) understanding susceptibilities models of high priority pathogens in people with CLD; 2) understanding geographic variability in the prevalence of AMR in CLD; 3) analysing risk factors for AMR in CLD Participants will be recruited

Eligibility criteria

This trial does not accept healthy volunteers

Qualifiers

Patients of all ages with any chronic lung disease who, for clinical practice, underwent testingof at least one respiratory biological sample (sputum culture; bronchoaspirate; bronchoalveolar lavage; nasal swab; throat swab) within the 12 months prior to the visit.

Patients attending an outpatient clinic or hospitalized during the study period

Disqualifiers

Patients who have not signed the informed consent form

Absence of data in the patient record

Trial population

The study will include patients of all ages with all kinds of chronic lung disease who underwent testing of at least one respiratory sample in the previous 12 months who attend a respiratory outpatient clinic or are hospitalized during the yearly two two-weeks recruitment windows.
