The Pieper Pressure Ulcer Knowledge Test (PUKT) is a 47-item test developed in 1995 by Pieper and Mott to assess knowledge regarding the prevention, risk assessment, staging, and identification of pressure ulcers. Lawrence and colleagues created a 49-item modified version by removing one question from the original test and adding three new questions. Correct answers are worth 1 point, while incorrect answers, "I don't know" responses, and blank (missing) answers are worth 0 points. The minimum score possible on the test is 0, and the maximum is 49.
