Bloating

The purpose of this study is to characterize the intestinal flora in subjects with systemic sclerosis-related constipation and/or significant bloating and to determine safety and trends in improvements in the diversity of colonic microbiome and patient symptoms following the administration of either frozen or lyophilized PRIM-DJ2727 microbiota.

The goal of this clinical trial is to investigate the safety and efficacy of Bloat on postprandial bloating in healthy women. The main question it aims to answer is what is the difference in change in bloating from pre-dose (postprandial) at t = 60 mins post-dose (postprandial) between Bloat and placebo, as assessed by the bloating numeric rating scale at screening/baseline. Participants will be asked to consume one dose of Bloat or Placebo for 55 days, and answer questionnaires on gas, bloating, and abdominal discomfort/distension.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of diaphragmatic breathing using the validated Mayo Bloating Questionnaire.

This study is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, within-individual crossover trial designed to assess the impact of regular use of a consumer-grade FODMAP-targeting digestive enzyme blend (FODZYME®) on gastrointestinal symptoms in adults with self-reported bloating.1 The study's rationale is based on the fact that fermentable carbohydrates (FODMAPs) are often poorly absorbed and can trigger symptoms like bloating and abdominal pain. While a Low FODMAP Diet (LFD) is clinically validated for symptom relief, it is restrictive. The enzyme blend is intended to offer a more flexible, enzyme-based solution by targeting and breaking down FODMAPs, such as fructan, GOS, and lactose, before they ferment in the colon. The primary objective is to evaluate the product's impact on bloating symptoms, measured by the mean PROMIS scale Gastrointestinal Gas and Bloating score. Secondary and exploratory objectives include assessing the impact on overall gastrointestinal symptom severity (IBS-SSS), abdominal pain (PROMIS Belly Pain score), food-related quality of life (FR-QoL-29), and anxiety (GAD-7 scores). The study also aims to evaluate these effects across various Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) subgroups (IBS-C, IBS-D, IBS-M). The trial is a consumer-driven, decentralized research study utilizing validated patient-reported outcome measures that can be completed in a home setting.

This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial will evaluate whether a 14-day course of rifaximin improves bloating in adult patients with Rome IV functional bowel disorders in whom bloating is the predominant symptom. Eligible participants with irritable bowel syndrome, functional constipation, or functional abdominal bloating/distension and bothersome bloating despite adequate bowel movement management will be assigned in a 1:1 ratio to rifaximin 550 mg three times daily or matching placebo for 2 weeks. The primary endpoint is the proportion of participants with bloating response, defined as at least a 1-point reduction from baseline in a 7-point Likert bloating score at the end of treatment.

Severe constipation affects 10% of children, often leading to significant physical and emotional distress. While constipation is commonly associated with impaired bowel movements, it is fundamentally linked to abnormalities in colonic motility - the coordinated contractions that facilitate passage of stool through the colon and out of the body. Diagnosis of constipation is based upon the Rome IV criteria, which assess symptoms as reported or remembered over the previous 3 months. However, reporting symptoms experienced can be challenging for children and young people for many reasons, such as the overlap of sensations, including fullness, bloating, and discomfort, and an inability to recall or precisely distinguish and describe what they are feeling. This study intends to design, develop, and validate symptom pictograms for children aged 8-17 with colonic or lower gut symptoms.

The goal of this observational study is to evaluate if Danning Tablets are effective in alleviating dyspepsia in patients with any of the following digestive symptoms: upper abdominal pain, bloating, loss of appetite, acid reflux or constipation. The main questions it aims to answer are: How effective are Danning Tablets for patients with indigestion symptoms? What are the impact factors (e.g. severity of conditions, demographic features, dose and length of treatment etc.) of the efficacy of Danning Tablets for indigestion patients? Participants already taking Danning Tablets as part of their regular medical care for indigestion will take questionnaires by the end of two weeks and four weeks respectively from the start of their treatment.

This clinical study aims to evaluate the effects of a low FODMAP diet compared to a high FODMAP diet in patients with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and Functional Constipation (FC) with predominant bloating. The study is a randomized, double-blind, controlled trial designed to assess whether a diet low in fermentable carbohydrates can improve bloating symptoms, gut microbiota composition, intestinal gas production, and metabolic outputs. Patients meeting the Rome IV criteria for IBS or FC with persistent bloating will be enrolled and randomly assigned to receive either a low or high FODMAP diet for two weeks. Meals will be standardized to control FODMAPs composition, ensuring that FODMAP content is the primary variable. The primary endpoint is the proportion of participants with a ≥30% reduction in bloating severity, measured using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Secondary outcomes include changes in global IBS symptoms, abdominal pain, bowel movements, stool consistency, microbiota diversity, hydrogen/methane gas production, and metabolomic profiles. This study will contribute to the growing body of evidence supporting dietary management in disorders of gut-brain interaction (DGBI), particularly in bloating-predominant IBS and FC, and will provide insights into the mechanisms linking diet, gut microbiota, and symptom improvement.

This is a new, commercially available, over-the-counter fiber supplement that combines 8 fibers. The varied nature of the fibers in this product is designed to create a more diverse microbiome (bacteria that live within the human GI tract). In general, the more diverse the microbiome the less inflammatory the gut. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of a new fiber product on bloating, gas, and bowel movements.
