Myofascial Pain Syndrome

This study aims to evaluate the immediate effects of a single session of dry needling on pain intensity and pressure pain threshold in patients with myofascial pain syndrome of the upper trapezius muscle. Outcomes will be assessed using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) and Pressure Pain Threshold (PPT) before treatment and at 30 minutes, 24 hours, and 72 hours after treatment.

Myofascial pain syndrome of the neck and shoulder is a common condition characterized by persistent muscle pain, tenderness, stiffness, and limitations in daily activities. Focused extracorporeal shockwave therapy is a noninvasive treatment that may reduce pain and improve muscle function. However, additional clinical evidence is needed regarding the effectiveness of second-generation focused shockwave therapy and whether ultrasound imaging can objectively detect changes in muscle function after treatment. This pilot randomized controlled trial will enroll 60 adults with chronic neck and shoulder myofascial pain syndrome. Participants will be randomly assigned to either a focused shockwave therapy group or a home-based neck exercise group. Participants in the focused shockwave therapy group will receive one treatment session per week for three consecutive weeks. Participants in the control group will perform a standardized home exercise program designed to improve neck mobility and reduce muscle tightness. Assessments will be performed before the intervention, after the intervention, and at follow-up. Study outcomes will include pain intensity measured using the Visual Analogue Scale, neck-related disability measured using the Neck Disability Index, pressure pain threshold measured using an algometer, and upper trapezius muscle thickness and contraction-related changes measured using ultrasound imaging. The primary objective is to determine whether focused shockwave therapy is more effective than a home-based neck exercise program in reducing pain and improving neck function. The study will also evaluate whether ultrasound-derived muscle measurements are associated with changes in pain, pressure sensitivity, and functional disability.

This randomized controlled trial aims to assess the effectiveness of tele-rehabilitation, including self-myofascial release and exercise therapy, in reducing pain, improving functional range of motion, and decreasing neck disability in patients with rhomboid trigger points associated with myofascial pain syndrome.

This randomized controlled trial aims to investigate the acute effects of diaphragmatic breathing exercises added to soft tissue mobilization and percussive therapy on pain intensity, functional disability, and pressure pain threshold in operating room nurses experiencing upper trapezius pain after surgery-related work activities. Participants will be operating room nurses working in a hospital operating theater who report upper trapezius pain and tenderness within 30 minutes after completing a surgical procedure. Eligible participants will be randomly assigned to either an intervention group receiving soft tissue mobilization, percussive therapy, and diaphragmatic breathing exercises, or a control group receiving soft tissue mobilization and percussive therapy alone. Pain intensity will be assessed using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), functional disability using the Neck Disability Index (NDI), and mechanical pain sensitivity using Pressure Pain Threshold (PPT) measurements. Assessments will be performed immediately before and after a single treatment session. The study aims to determine whether the addition of diaphragmatic breathing exercises provides additional benefits in reducing pain and improving function in the acute postoperative working period of operating room nurses.

This study aims to compare the effectiveness of dry needling, extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT), and pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) in patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain. The primary outcomes include pain intensity and functional status. Patients will be randomly assigned to different treatment groups, and outcomes will be evaluated before and after the interventions. The results of this study are expected to contribute to determining the most effective treatment method for pain management.

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn whether pharmacopuncture with Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is effective for treating chronic neck pain in cervical myofascial syndrome related to the upper trapezius muscle. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Is pharmacopuncture with Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) effective in reducing chronic neck pain in patients with cervical myofascial syndrome related to the upper trapezius muscle? 2. Does PRP pharmacopuncture improve functional outcomes and quality of life in these patients? 3. Are there any adverse effects associated with PRP pharmacopuncture in this context? Researchers will compare PRP pharmacopuncture to normal saline pharmacopuncture (placebo) to evaluate whether PRP provides greater effectiveness in reducing chronic neck pain in cervical myofascial syndrome related to the upper trapezius muscle. Participants will: * Receive a single session of pharmacopuncture therapy * Undergo evaluations at week 2, week 4, and week 8 after the intervention

The patients will be randomly assigned to one of the two groups according to the treatment method: group I (masseter group) and group II (masseter \&sternocleidomastoid group) where each patient will be injected 0.5ml in each trigger point (TrPs) of magnesium sulphate according to the treatment group by the same operator. The treatment method for TrPs will be the primary predictor variable. Patients will be examined at the following intervals: during diagnosis, 1-month, 3-months, and 6-months post-injection. The participated patients will be assessed using pain score measured on a 10-point visual analogue scale (VAS), the 0 indicating no pain and 10 indicating the worst pain ever

The purpose of the study is to determine the effect of extracorporeal shockwave therapy on pain, neck range of motion, and functional activity in adolescent athletes.

The goal of this clinical trial is to conduct MRI studies on adults with myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) to identify important MRI biomarkers that respond to OMT (osteopathic manipulation therapy) and investigate the feasibility of implementing MRI study and OMT in this population. The main outcomes of the study include: * Determine whether biomarkers measured by MRI can differentiate normal tissues and MTrP (myofascial trigger point). * Test the responsiveness of the biomarkers identified by MRI to the proposed intervention, OMT, in patients with MPS of the upper back. Researchers will compare participants who will receive one session of OMT (Group 1 - Experimental Condition) and participants who will not receive any treatment (Group 2 - Control Condition) to see how the MRI-identified biomarkers respond to the intervention. Participants will complete the following: * Clinical screening * MRI measures * Battery of self-report surveys * Clinical/Physical Function Assessment
