Professional Burnout

This study will explore experiences in high-acuity medical care settings, such as emergency, trauma, intensive care, and related clinical areas. These settings often involve heavy workloads, complex care decisions, teamwork, and communication among many people. The study will invite healthcare professionals, patients, important family caregivers, and other related people to share their experiences. Participants may complete questionnaires, take part in interviews, or complete a later online survey. The study will ask about work experiences, care experiences, communication, support needs, teamwork, and the value of professional contributions in these settings. The goal of this study is to better understand important but less visible contributions in high-acuity medical care, such as teaching, coordination, communication, and support. The findings may help identify areas that can be considered in future research, hospital improvement, workforce development, and policy discussion.

This study is being conducted to describe the impact of a meeting between patients that were admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) and a provider that cared for the patients during the period of critical illness. The study team is aiming to describe the effect this meeting has on the physician that previously cared for the patient. The study team hypothesizes that facilitating involvement in post-ICU clinic and creating longitudinal relationships between providers of critical care and survivors of critical illness will have positive effects on trainees, both in professional fulfillment and burnout scores and in perceptions of critical care.

Burnout is highly prevalent among oncology clinicians, including residents in training. This prospective, mixed-methods, quasi-experimental study will evaluate how burnout changes over 12 months during the first year of medical oncology residency and explore which work-related, professional identity, and program support factors influence this variation. Residents will participate in a structured self-care and burnout prevention program with multiple modules (e.g., yoga, mindfulness, art therapy, music therapy, Balint groups, workshops, mentorship). Quantitative burnout outcomes will be measured using the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI-HSS), and qualitative insights will be collected through individual semi-structured interviews. The study will also describe sociodemographic characteristics, baseline burnout prevalence, participation/adherence, satisfaction, and implementation barriers/facilitators.

This study aims to evaluate a career planning mobile App specifically tailored for male nurses.This three-year experimental project aims to recruit 120 male nurses (60）in the experimental group and 60 in the control group). Employing a prospective double-blind randomized controlled trial (RCT) design, the study will include six follow-up points (pre-intervention, post-intervention at 0, 6, 12, 18, and 24 months) to examine the effectiveness of career self-efficacy, career adaptive behaviors, occupational resilience, career success, and career continuity intentions of male nurses over time. The repeated measures data will be analyzed with the intention-to-treat analysis method and General Estimating Equations (GEE). This research represents an innovative development of the world's first theoretically grounded career planning mobile App for male nurses.The study's results can serve as a valuable reference for future career planning initiatives in nursing practice and education.
