Preventive Potential of Fluoride Sealants in Adolescent Orthodontic Patients

The aim of this trial is to investigate the potential of using an adhesive bonding agent that also acts as a fluoride sealant when placing fixed orthodontic appliances in adolescent patients, as an alternative to regular bonding agents. The main question it aims to answer is: \- Does an adhesive fluoride sealant reduce the prevalence of white spot lesions in orthodontic adolescent patients after an observation period of 3 months? Participants who need orthodontic treatment and who agree to take part in this study will have their orthodontic appliance placed using regular adhesive on one side of their upper jaw and fluoride sealant on the other. White spot lesion prevalence will be assessed using the Enamel Decalcification Index (EDI) at baseline and after 3 months.

Comparison of MI Paste Plus and Resin Infiltration in White Spot Lesions Following Orthodontic Treatment

Dental cavities are among the most frequent diseases that affect teeth, particularly in patients who are treated with braces due to the difficulty in maintaining good oral hygiene in the presence of the mouth appliances. The white spot lesion (WSL) is the first clinical sign of cavities that presents itself as a milky-white opacity when located on the front face of the tooth. The aim to manage these early lesions focuses on promoting natural remineralization and preventing further demineralization. Various materials have been introduced for management of WSLs including MI paste and MI paste combined with fluoride (MI paste plus). Recently, a new material called resin infiltration has been found to treat these lesions with high esthetic results and great performance. According to the few numbers of in-vivo studies investigating the effectiveness of remineralization products, the aim of the current study is to clinically compare the outcome of the resin-infiltration and etching + MI paste plus to stop and improve the appearance of the WSL on front teeth in patients after treatment with braces.

QLF and Digital Imaging for Caries Activity Assessment After Orthodontic Treatment

This prospective longitudinal observational study aims to evaluate the diagnostic performance and agreement of Smartphone photography, intraoral 3D imaging, Quantitative Light-Induced Fluorescence Digital (QLF-D), and ICDAS clinical criteria for assessing non-cavitated caries lesion activity in post-orthodontic patients under a preventive follow-up program. Thirty participants aged 11 to 46 years with active initial caries lesions will be followed for three months. Clinical examinations, QLF-D imaging, smartphone photographs, and intraoral 3D scans will be obtained at baseline and follow-up visits combined with professional prophylaxis and oral hygiene reinforcement. The study will analyze changes in lesion activity, fluorescence parameters, and surface characteristics over time, as well as the agreement and diagnostic performance among the evaluated methods.

AI-Generated WhatsApp Reminders vs. No Reminders: Impact on Oral Health in Young Adults

This randomized controlled trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of artificial intelligence-generated WhatsApp reminders on improving oral hygiene practices among individuals aged 20-40 years visiting the periodontal clinic at El-Qasr El-Ainy Dental Hospital. Participants will be randomly assigned to either receive health education followed by AI-generated WhatsApp reminders over a 3-month period or to a control group receiving health education only. The primary outcome is the presence of white spot lesions, assessed using the modified Gorelick White Spot Lesion (WSL) index. Secondary outcomes include the presence of dental plaque, measured by the Plaque Index (PI). This study seeks to determine whether AI-generated reminders can enhance oral hygiene adherence compared to standard health education alone.
