Cryotherapy, PGE2, NGF Levels and Pain After Endodontic Retreatment

This prospective, randomized, controlled, single-blind, parallel-group clinical trial evaluates whether intracanal cryotherapy reduces postoperative pain and inflammatory biomarker levels following single-visit endodontic retreatment of teeth with asymptomatic apical periodontitis. A total of 100 patients (18-65 years, systemically healthy, ASA I-II) requiring non-surgical retreatment of a single-rooted mandibular premolar tooth will be randomly assigned via computer-generated randomization to one of two equal groups (n=50 each): a cryotherapy group, receiving intracanal final irrigation with sterile saline cooled to 2.5°C for 5 minutes, and a control group, receiving the same irrigation protocol with saline at room temperature (20-22°C). Salivary nerve growth factor (NGF) and gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) levels will be measured by ELISA at baseline (T0), 24 hours (T1), and 72 hours (T2). Postoperative pain will be assessed using a visual analog scale (VAS, 0-100 mm) at 6, 12, 24, 48, and 72 hours and on day 7, with the 24-hour VAS score as the primary comparison point. Rescue analgesic (paracetamol) consumption will also be recorded and compared between groups. The study aims to determine whether intracanal cryotherapy lowers postoperative pain and biomarker levels compared to standard-temperature irrigation, and to evaluate the correlation between PGE2/NGF levels and pain intensity.

Effect of Different Apical Motion Algorithms on Postoperative Pain After Root Canal Treatment

Brief Summary This prospective, randomized clinical trial aims to evaluate the effect of different endodontic motor settings used during root canal treatment on postoperative pain. During root canal treatment, the inner part of the tooth is cleaned and shaped using specialized rotating instruments. These instruments can operate with different motion patterns, and the motor may respond differently as the instrument approaches the tip of the root. The influence of these technical variations on postoperative pain has not been clearly established. Adult participants requiring root canal treatment for mandibular premolar teeth will be enrolled in the study. Participants will be randomly assigned to different groups. In each group, root canal treatment will be performed using different motor motion settings. All procedures applied in this study are routine and safe treatment methods commonly used in clinical endodontic practice. After treatment, participants' pain levels will be monitored through telephone follow-ups. Pain intensity will be assessed using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS). In addition, analgesic intake will be recorded. The purpose of this study is to determine whether different endodontic motor settings influence postoperative pain and patient comfort following root canal treatment. The findings are expected to contribute to safer and more comfortable root canal treatment protocols.

Plaque Removal Efficiency in Children With Specific Learning Disabilities

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of toothbrushing education on plaque removal in children aged 7-12 years with specific learning disabilities (SLD) and to compare their plaque removal performance with healthy children. Participants will receive standardized toothbrushing education supported by visual and auditory materials. Plaque Index, Gingival Index, and photograph-based quantitative plaque analyses will be evaluated at baseline and after a 2-week follow-up period.

This study aims to evaluate dental caries and oral hygiene status in children aged 7-12 years with specific learning disabilities (SLD) and to compare the findings with healthy children. Clinical oral examinations, including dmft/DMFT, ICDAS II, Plaque Index, and Gingival Index assessments, will be performed. In addition, questionnaire-based evaluations of oral hygiene habits, dietary habits, and parental supervision during toothbrushing will be conducted.

Effect of Lemon Juice and Apple Cider Vinegar on Postprandial Blood Glucose and Satiety in Healthy Individuals

This clinical study aims to examine how acidic drinks (lemon juice and apple cider vinegar) affect blood sugar when consumed with a starchy food. The study focuses on healthy individuals and aims to understand whether these drinks can slow the rise in blood sugar after meals and affect feelings of fullness. The main questions this study aims to answer are: Do lemon juice or apple cider vinegar lower the rise in blood sugar after a meal? Do these drinks increase feelings of fullness? Do different amounts change their effects? Researchers will compare lemon juice and apple cider vinegar to see which one is more effective. Participants will: Consume white bread in the morning on an empty stomach with one of the following drinks: Water only Water with lemon juice (50 g or 100 g) Water with apple cider vinegar (10 g or 20 g) Have a one-week break between each test. Have their blood sugar measured at regular intervals for 3 hours after eating. Report their level of fullness using a simple scale. This study explores whether simple and practical dietary choices can help manage blood sugar levels. The findings may support new, easy-to-apply nutrition strategies for managing diabetes and weight.

Effects of Graded Motor Imagery in Individuals With Foot/Ankle Osteoarthritis

The aim of our study is to evaluate the effects of graded motor imagery training applied in addition to a structured exercise program in individuals with foot and/or ankle osteoarthritis. The study population will consist of twenty-four individuals diagnosed with foot/ankle osteoarthritis who applied to the Orthopedics and Traumatology Department of Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University Education and Research Hospital. Individuals who volunteer to participate in the study will be invited to participate through face-to-face interviews. The inclusion and exclusion criteria are as follows: Inclusion criteria: * Being 18 years of age or older * Having a diagnosis of foot/ankle osteoarthritis confirmed by a specialist physician through clinical and/or radiological examination * Experiencing pain in the ankle joint most days for at least three months * Agreeing to participate in randomly assigned treatment and follow-up measurements * Having a sufficient level of Turkish language comprehension * Having a Standardized Mini Mental Test score of at least 24 points Exclusion criteria: * Previous arthrodesis or joint replacement surgery on the affected ankle * Physical therapy for ankle osteoarthritis within the last three months * Vision or hearing problems that would affect compliance with treatment. * Presence of a neuromuscular disease * History of intra-articular ankle injections within the last 3 months * Initiation of a new disease-specific pharmacological treatment during the study period During the study period, participants will receive one of the physical therapy programs. One group will only participate in the structured exercise program, while the other group will receive graded motor imagery training in addition to the exercise program.Both treatment groups will receive a total of 12 treatment sessions over 6 weeks. The results of this study may help improve physiotherapy programs for individuals with similar health conditions.
