Validating Blinding Maintenance of a Sham-Sensitization Control Design for Sensitization Acupuncture Trials

This study is the clinical validation component of a broader research program developing a randomized controlled trial (RCT) comparing sensitization acupuncture (an individualized technique in which treatment points are selected by palpation for sensitized acupoints) with traditional acupuncture (a technique using preset, fixed acupoints). To keep participants unaware of which treatment they receive, the program constructed a control design using a structured five-step framework (Deconstruct-Identify-Take out-Think-Optimize, DITTO), in which each treatment incorporates a double-simulation: in sensitization acupuncture, sensitized acupoints are needled genuinely while the preset traditional acupoints receive shallow or non-penetrating needling; in traditional acupuncture, the preset acupoints are needled genuinely while the identified sensitized acupoints receive shallow or non-penetrating needling. This study validates whether this design maintains participant blinding in practice. Thirty participants with one of five conditions (knee osteoarthritis, insomnia, cervical spondylosis, chronic low back pain, or allergic rhinitis) will each receive 10 sessions in a randomized order: 5 sessions of sensitization acupuncture and 5 sessions of traditional acupuncture. After each session, participants will guess which treatment they received, state their reasons, and rate their confidence; blinding will be evaluated using James' and Bang's Blinding Indices. Sensory experience (deqi, pain, needle-penetration perception) and adverse events will also be compared between the two treatments. Results will guide refinement of the control design before its use in the definitive RCT.

Efficacy and Safety of Hebenrun in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes

This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Hebenrun (a functional food based on natural grain bran) combined with metformin in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The study hypothesis is that Hebenrun combined with metformin will achieve a higher complete discontinuation rate of oral hypoglycemic drugs compared to metformin alone. A total of 110 T2DM patients will be randomly assigned (1:1) to the study group (metformin + Hebenrun) or the control group (metformin alone) and followed for 48 weeks. The primary outcome is the complete discontinuation rate of oral hypoglycemic drugs at the end of follow-up.

A Randomized Controlled Trial of Combined Bu Shen Yi Qi Decoction and Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) for the Treatment of Ovarian Function Decline

The purpose of this clinical trial is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Bushen Yiqi formula combined with dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) in the treatment of women with diminished ovarian reserve (DOR). The study also aims to assess the safety profile of this combined therapy. The main questions this study aims to answer include: 1. Can the Bushen Yiqi formula combined with DHEA improve ovarian reserve in women with DOR? 2. Does the combined treatment improve hormone levels, ovarian follicle parameters, and clinical symptoms? 3. What safety issues may occur during treatment with the Bushen Yiqi formula combined with DHEA? Researchers will compare the Bushen Yiqi formula combined with DHEA to DHEA plus placebo to determine whether the combined therapy is more effective in treating diminished ovarian reserve. Participants will: 1. Be randomly assigned to either the treatment group or the control group 2. Receive DHEA combined with the Bushen Yiqi formula or DHEA combined with placebo for 12 weeks 3. Undergo regular clinical assessments during the study period 4. Have ovarian reserve markers (including AMH and antral follicle count), sex hormone levels (FSH, LH, E2, and testosterone), traditional Chinese medicine symptom scores, Kupperman menopausal index scores, inflammatory markers (CRP and IL-6), and safety indicators evaluated before and after treatment

Safety Evaluation of Pueraria Lobata Radix in Specific Consumption Scenarios for Type 2 Diabetes

This real-world study aims to investigate the association between the consumption of Pueraria lobata radix and adverse events in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) under special scenarios. By retrospectively analyzing the clinical data of patients with T2DM, we will evaluate the safety profile of Pueraria lobata radix in different special populations, identify potential risk factors, and provide evidence-based support for the safe consumption and clinical use of Pueraria lobata radix.

Efficacy and Safety of Pueraria Lobata Radix As an Adjuvant Treatment for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

As a dietary herb, pueraria lobata radix (PLR) has been showed to have hypoglycemic effects in animal experiments. However, there is currently a lack of evidence from randomized controlled trials. Therefore, this randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial aims to assess the efficacy and safety of PLR as an adjunctive treatment for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

Efficacy and Safety of Electroacupuncture on Lumbar Disc Herniation with Radiculopathy

Lumbar disc herniation with radiculopathy (LDHR) is the local displacement of the intervertebral disc and its contents beyond the edge of the normal intervertebral disc space, resulting in pain, weakness or numbness in the muscle or dermatomal distribution area. Electroacupuncture is based on obtaining the needling sensation manually and applying electrical stimulation of different frequencies and intensities, aiming to enhance the intensity of acupoint stimulation to improve the effect. As a kind of acupoint stimulation therapy, electroacupuncture has shown analgesic effects in animal experiments. However, at present, the clinical evidence of electroacupuncture applied in the treatment of LDHR is still insufficient. Therefore, this randomized, single-blind, sham electroacupuncture controlled trial aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of electroacupuncture as a treatment for LDHR.
