Stroke Rehabilitation Using Extended Reality.

After a stroke, many people experience difficulties with movement, balance, or everyday activities. Rehabilitation is an important part of recovery and can help people regain function and confidence in daily life. However, rehabilitation can sometimes become repetitive, tiring, or difficult to maintain over time. This research project studies the use of Mixed Reality (MR) in stroke rehabilitation. MR uses special glasses that project digital holograms into the real-world environment. This allows individuals to see and interact with virtual objects while remaining aware of and moving within their actual surroundings. Using MR, people can practice movements and functional activities in a safe, engaging, and interactive way. The holographic exercises can be repeated many times in a structured manner, which is important for recovery after stroke. At the same time, the training can be varied to reduce monotony and maintain motivation. The exercises can be individually adapted to each person's abilities, rehabilitation goals, and daily condition. The level of difficulty can be adjusted as the person progresses. MR systems can also provide immediate visual and auditory feedback, helping individuals understand their performance and encouraging active participation in their rehabilitation. The project also focuses on how patients experience this type of training and how it fits into everyday life.

Follow-up of Adolescents With Autism and Psychotic Symptoms - Psychiatric Co-morbidity and Functional Impairment.

Purpose: To describe level of function, psychotic and psychiatric symptoms in a 10-year follow up of individuals with autism and psychotic symptoms. Method: A case-control study based on a cohort of 48 teenagers with autism established 2013. In this study, 22 participant reported psychotic symptom in self-evaluation questionnaires design for early detection. An additional 5 individuals were recruited in a second round of recruitment in 2019. Three of these individuals reported psychotic symptoms. We aim to recruit individuals with psychotic symptoms and controls from the same cohort without psychotic symptoms. Data will be collected from self-rating scales, clinical evaluation including semi-structured interviews and healthcare journals. The study is primarily descriptive, with group comparison by non-parametric method.

Sleep in Children With Autism and Intellectual Disability

Purposes: Establish proof-of-concept for home polysomnography in the assessment of sleep disorders among prepubertal school children with autism and intellectual disabilities combined; To explore the diagnostic yield of polysomnography for these individuals; To examine the feasibility and treatment effect of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) for insomnia, focusing on sleep maintenance difficulties, in these children. Method: Single-case experimental design with multiple baselines and with multiple participants, with a focus on feasibility. N=15 prepubertal children, aged 6-12 years, with autism and intellectual disabilities combined, and difficulties in maintaining nighttime sleep. Assessment with home polysomnography + actigraphy. Intervention with ABA, including functional analysis, measurable goals, and behavior modification based on the functional analysis. Outcome measures from actigraphy and sleep diary with multiple data points at baseline and after treatment. Feasibility is examined as adherence to assessment and treatment, as well as in a qualitative study of parental experiences.
