Digital vs Conventional VFR in Post-Orthodontic Retention

This study is comparing two ways of making a retainer, the clear, removable kind worn after braces to see whether the way it's made affects gum health. One type is made using a digital scan of the teeth, and the other is made the traditional way, using a plaster mold. The study will look at how each type affects plaque buildup, gum swelling, and the depth of the space between the tooth and gum over a six-month period. About 52 people who have just finished braces on both their upper and lower teeth will take part. Participants will be assigned to one of two groups: one group will receive a digitally made retainer, and the other will receive a traditionally made retainer. Retainer Fitting Before the study begins, each participant's retainer is custom-made for their teeth, either from a digital scan or a plaster mold, depending on which group they're in. Participants will wear their retainer for 22 hours a day, taking it out only to eat and brush their teeth. Daily Care Throughout the study, participants will follow the same tooth-brushing and gum-care routine, so that any differences seen between the two groups can be linked to the retainer itself rather than to differences in oral hygiene. Participants will be asked to avoid using mouthwash while wearing the retainer. Check-Up Visits Participants will attend four check-ups over six months: Before the retainer is placed (baseline) One month after placement Three months after placement Six months after placement At each visit, a dentist will check the teeth and gums for plaque buildup, gum swelling or bleeding, and pocket depth (the space between the tooth and gum) using a small measuring tool called a probe. Follow-Up The final check-up at six months marks the end of the study for each participant. Participants can leave the study at any time if they choose.

According to world health organization (WHO), more than 55 million people globally live with dementia, and this number is expected to rise to 78 million by 2023 and 139 million by 2050 (WHO, 2021).

Virtual Reality Training Using Wii Fit in Children With Cerebral Palsy

The goal of this clinical trial is to determine whether virtual reality (VR) training using the Nintendo Wii Fit can improve balance, gross motor function, and agility in children aged 7-14 years with spastic cerebral palsy (GMFCS Levels I-II). The main questions it aims to answer are: Does Wii Fit-based VR training improve balance more than conventional physiotherapy? Does VR training enhance gross motor skills such as standing, walking, running, and jumping? Does VR training improve agility in children with cerebral palsy? Does VR training increase enjoyment and engagement during therapy? Researchers will compare Wii Fit-based VR training with conventional physiotherapy to determine which approach leads to greater improvements in motor function. Participants will: Attend 18 sessions over 6 weeks (3 sessions per week). Perform either VR-based exercises using the Wii Fit Balance Board or traditional physiotherapy exercises. Complete pre- and post-intervention assessments using the Pediatric Balance Scale, GMFM-88 (domains D and E), BOT-2 agility subtest, and the PACES enjoyment scale. This study aims to explore a fun, cost-effective, and engaging rehabilitation strategy that may improve functional independence and overall quality of life for children with cerebral palsy.

Effect of Biofeedback-Enhanced Exergaming, Exergaming Alone, and Traditional Physical Therapy on Motor Function, Adherence, and Engagement in Children With Cerebral Palsy: A RCT

Cerebral Palsy (CP) accounts for approximately 0.9% of the global disease burden and affects 2.4-4% of children under 5 years old, with associated developmental and coordination impairments. Pediatric physical therapy aims to enhance independence and quality of life; however, maintaining adherence to conventional treatment remains a major challenge due to its repetitive and monotonous nature, leading to reduced motivation and limited functional progress. Exergaming, integrating physical activity with interactive video games, has emerged as an engaging alternative shown to improve motor function, balance, and coordination in children with motor impairments. While existing evidence supports its effectiveness, few randomized studies have explored the addition of real-time physiological biofeedback (e.g., surface EMG with motion tracking) within exergaming platforms. Evidence on adherence and engagement outcomes also remains limited. This trial addresses that gap by investigating the combined effects of biofeedback-enhanced exergaming versus exergaming alone and traditional physiotherapy in children with CP (GMFCS levels I-II). Incorporating real-time biofeedback provides immediate physiological feedback, potentially enhancing motor learning, motivation, and adherence, key components for improving long-term rehabilitation outcomes in pediatric populations.

An Investigation of the Efficacy of OHEM for Improving Oral Hygiene in Children

This pilot study evaluates the feasibility of conducting a larger Randomized Controlled Trial to compare three oral health education delivery methods to a control group. Except for the control group, mothers in the three intervention groups will receive the same oral health education based on the OHEM module but differ in the delivery methods, namely lecture, exhibition, and demonstration. All groups will receive a booklet and oral hygiene kits and be instructed to educate their children at home. Pre- and post-intervention assessments include the satisfaction of participants, the researchers' evaluation and cost of the trial, oral hygiene status, and the knowledge of the parents and children.
