About this trial
The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if shell technique is useful for implant placement site preparation in adults. The main questions it aims to answer are:
Does using xenograft in this technique can reduce the amount of bone harvested from intra oral sites and reduce postoperative complications while offering enough bone to support endosseous implants with long term success?
Researchers will compare autogenous bone blocks to xenograft bone blocks in the shell technique ridge augmentation.
Participants will undergo ridge augmentation surgery, then have implants placed in the augmented area, then receive implant supported restorations afterwards.
Eligibility criteria
This trial does not accept healthy volunteersQualifiers
Patients who are attending NGU clinics seeking rehabilitation of upper inter-bicuspid edentulous ridges.
Edentulous ridges with adequate bone height, but inadequate bone width.
Patients' ages are between 20-60 years.
Medically free patients, who are nonsmokers.
Disqualifiers
Patients who have undergone previous bone augmentation in the upper interbicuspid edentulous ridges.
Edentulous ridges with inadequate bone height.
Patients who have systemic diseases or who are taking drugs affecting quality of bone.
Trial design
Parallel
Treatments tested in this trial
Horizontal alveolar ridge augmentation using shell technique with xenograft
Procedure/Surgerygroup will receive xenograft shell bone fixed to the edentulous ridge with a screw keeping it at a distance from the ridge and particulate xenograft to fill the gap.
horizontal alveolar ridge augmentation using shell technique with autograft.
Procedure/Surgerygroup will receive autogenous bone shell harvested from the retromolar area fixed to the edentulous area with screws keeping it at a distance from the ridge and particulate bone to fill the gap formed of particulate autograft.
