Human Papillomavirus Infection

This study evaluates the long term protection provided by either one or two doses of the 9vHPV vaccine for participants who were part of the ESCUDDO study.

This randomized, open-label, multicenter clinical study is designed to evaluate Papilozumib® vaginal gel in women aged 30 to 50 years who test positive for human papillomavirus (HPV) and present with either normal cervical cytology or cytological findings of atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASC-US), low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (LSIL), or atypical glandular cells (AGC), accompanied by corresponding colposcopic findings. Eighty-one participants will be randomly assigned in equal groups to receive either Papilozumib® vaginal gel, Papilozumib® vaginal gel plus an oral supplement, or standard clinical care without study treatment. All participants will be followed for six months. The primary objective is to assess exocervical mucosa restoration 30 days after treatment initiation using a 5-point colposcopic scale. Additional assessments include cervical cytology, HPV clearance, vaginal health, treatment adherence, satisfaction, tolerability, safety, and exploratory analyses of the vaginal and intestinal microbiota.

This clinical trial evaluates the use of self-collected vaginal samples for human papillomavirus (HPV) testing in patients referred for a colposcopy and/or cervical excisional procedures to improve cervical cancer prevention. HPV is a common virus which usually causes infections that last only a few months, but sometimes can last longer. HPV is known to cause a variety of cancers including cervical cancer. Even though there are ways to detect cervical cancer, many individuals are not diagnosed. Over half of all new cervical cancer cases are among those who have either never been screened or who are not screened enough. The low screening numbers show more testing needs to be done. Without appropriate screening and care, preventable precancer may turn into cancer. A new way to detect cervical cancer is to have individuals collect their own sample for HPV testing to know their risk for cervical cancer. This may give individuals more flexibility and comfort having the ability to collect samples themselves, compared to a doctor performing a speculum examination and collecting the samples in a clinic. Information gathered from this study compares clinical accuracy of HPV testing on self-collected vaginal samples versus cervical samples collected by clinician. The Self-collection for HPV Testing to Improve Cervical Cancer Prevention (SHIP) Trial is part of the National Cancer Institute (NCI)'s Cervical Cancer 'Last Mile' Initiative, a public private partnership that seeks to increase access to cervical cancer screening. The SHIP Trial focuses on developing clinical evidence to inform the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)'s regulatory reviews of self-collection approaches as alternative sample collection approaches for cervical cancer screening. Several industry partner-specific self-collection device and assay combinations will be non-competitively and independently evaluated with a similar study design framework to inform pre-approval and/or post-approval regulatory requirements.

The purpose of this study is to determine the provider- and practice-level characteristics that influence the impact of implementation strategies guided by practice facilitation in each clinical practice, to test whether the facilitator-driven provider- and practice-level implementation strategies increase provider recommendations and Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccination rates and to evaluate implementation and future sustainability of the facilitator-driven implementation strategies across nine clinical practice sites

This study evaluates the diagnostic accuracy and feasibility of a same-day cervical cancer screening strategy using HPV self-sampling followed by digital telecytology triage among HPV-positive women in Cameroon. Women aged 30-49 years (or 25-49 years if HIV-positive) will undergo primary HPV testing using the GeneXpert system. HPV-positive women will be managed according to an extended HPV genotyping-based algorithm, including immediate treatment, telecytology triage, or follow-up. Histological assessment serves as the reference standard for the detection of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 2 or worse (CIN2+). Secondary objectives include evaluation of AI-assisted telecytology and visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA), as well as the acceptability of screening and treatment strategies among women and healthcare providers. The study aims to generate evidence to support scalable, WHO-recommended test-triage-treat approaches in low-resource settings

The trial will evaluate whether self-sampling and human papillomavirus (HPV) testing may increase cervical cancer screening attendance among under-screened women in Czech Republic. Different ways of offering self-sampling device will be evaluated.

This study evaluates a modified two-probe thermal ablation protocol using the IRIS™ device and retrospectively assesses an AI-based Automated Visual Evaluation (AVE) triage algorithm among HPV-positive women in El Salvador. The primary objective is to estimate 1-year cure rates of CIN2+ following treatment. A secondary objective is to evaluate the diagnostic performance of AVE compared with histopathology.

This study aims to evaluate the effect of an educational intervention based on the Health Belief Model (HBM) combined with motivational interviewing on women's knowledge about Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection and their awareness of HPV vaccination. The study will be conducted among women aged 18-45 who have not received the HPV vaccine. Participants in the intervention group will receive structured education and motivational interviews, while the control group will receive no intervention. Changes in HPV knowledge and vaccine awareness will be measured before and after the intervention using validated scales. The goal is to improve preventive behaviors and increase vaccine uptake through behavior-based education.

The goal of the Transmission of Oncogenic HPV Infection Among Families (TREVINO) study is to improve understanding of how high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) infections are transmitted within families. The research focuses on transmission between sexual partners and between parents and children. It also examines how the various microbes may influence the persistence of HPV infections and the development of HPV-related cancers. The study will include up to 300 couples recruited from gynecology and ear, nose, and throat (ENT) clinics in Finland, as well as their children. Participants include individuals with persistent HPV infection, cervical precancer or cancer, or HPV-related head and neck cancer, along with their partners and potentially their offspring. Participants will provide self-collected samples from the oral and genital areas at multiple time points over up to five years. Questionnaires addressing medical, behavioural, and environmental factors will be completed. The study is conducted at Tampere University Hospital and Kuopio University Hospital in Finland. Results will inform HPV screening and prevention programs, improve understanding of family-level transmission, and identify potential microbial and genetic markers linked to cancer risk.

The aim of this study is to develop robust analytical protocols for the monitoring of vaccine induced immunity against the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) in first-void urine samples and to examine fluctuations of urinary HPV-specific antibodies and potential normalization markers in different cohorts.

Cervical cancer represents one of the foremost causes of cancer-related morbidity and mortality among women worldwide. Given the current limitations, such as the low specificity of human papillomavirus (HPV) testing and the relatively low sensitivity of cytological examinations, there is a pressing need for a novel, non-invasive, safe, and precise screening method. This study aims to undertake a multicentre, real-world investigation, incorporating at least 10 sub-centres and enrolling 30,000 participants. Histopathological examination results will serve as the 'gold standard' for evaluating the screening efficacy of human PAX1 and JAM3 gene methylation assays (PAX1m/JAM3m), HPV testing, and cytological examinations. Furthermore, the study seeks to elucidate the relationship between DNA methylation levels and persistent HPV infection, while also assessing the applicability of PAX1m/JAM3m across diverse clinical settings. By focusing on alterations in DNA methylation levels within cervical exfoliated cells as the primary research trajectory, this study aspires to furnish novel insights and theoretical foundations for the prevention and management of cervical cancer, targeting PAX1m/JAM3m. The ultimate objective is to facilitate the clinical implementation of an enhanced cervical cancer screening protocol, thereby addressing the deficiencies of current screening methodologies, achieving greater precision in cervical cancer screening, and effectively reducing the incidence of cervical cancer while mitigating the risks of overdiagnosis and overtreatment.
