Comparison of Kinesio Taping Techniques in Ulnar Nerve Entrapment

The purpose of this study is to investigate and compare the efficacy of space-correction kinesio taping and neural technique kinesio taping-when added to a home exercise program-versus placebo taping with exercise in individuals with ulnar neuropathy at the elbow. Ulnar neuropathy at the elbow is the second most common entrapment neuropathy of the upper extremity. It leads to symptoms such as numbness and tingling in the fourth and fifth digits, hand muscle weakness, and reduced manual dexterity, which negatively impact quality of life. Conservative treatment options include activity modification, nerve gliding exercises, and kinesio taping. Although kinesio taping is widely used in conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome, evidence regarding the comparative efficacy of different taping techniques in ulnar nerve entrapment remains limited. In this study, eligible participants will be randomly assigned to three groups: Space-Correction Kinesio Taping + Exercise Group Neural Technique Kinesio Taping + Exercise Group Placebo Kinesio Taping + Exercise Group The taping intervention will be administered over 3 weeks for a total of 3 sessions (1 session per week, with tape applied for 3 days followed by a 4-day tape-free interval). All participants will receive activity modification education and perform home ulnar nerve gliding exercises twice daily (10 repetitions per session) for 3 weeks. Outcome evaluations-including symptom severity, clinical parameters, and electrophysiological measurements-will be conducted at baseline, at the end of week 3 (post-treatment), and at the 3-month follow-up.

Effects of Stellate Ganglion Block on Delirium and Circadian Rhythm in Geriatric Intensive Care Patients

Delirium is a common complication in elderly intensive care unit (ICU) patients and is associated with poor clinical outcomes. Circadian rhythm disruption is considered an important contributing factor in delirium development. Stellate ganglion block (SGB) may modulate autonomic nervous system activity and improve circadian rhythm regulation. This prospective randomized placebo-controlled trial aims to evaluate the effects of ultrasound-guided stellate ganglion block on delirium incidence and circadian rhythm in ICU patients aged 65 years and older. Delirium will be assessed using validated clinical scales, and circadian rhythm will be evaluated through serial measurements of serum melatonin and plasma cortisol levels

Effect of Adding a Biceps Femoris Short Head Block to Adductor Canal Block for Analgesia After Total Knee Arthroplasty

Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is frequently associated with moderate to severe postoperative pain, which may delay mobilization, increase opioid consumption, and impair functional recovery. Ultrasound-guided adductor canal block (ACB) is widely used as part of multimodal analgesia because it provides effective analgesia while preserving quadriceps muscle strength. However, ACB alone may provide insufficient analgesia for the posterior aspect of the knee. The biceps femoris short head (BiFeS) block is a novel ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia technique targeting the posterolateral sensory innervation of the knee and may enhance postoperative analgesia when combined with ACB. However, clinical evidence regarding its analgesic efficacy in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty remains limited. This prospective, randomized, controlled trial aims to compare postoperative analgesia between ultrasound-guided adductor canal block alone and adductor canal block combined with a biceps femoris short head block in adult patients undergoing primary total knee arthroplasty under spinal anesthesia. Participants will be randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to receive either ACB alone or combined ACB plus BiFeS block. The primary outcome is cumulative opioid consumption during the first 48 postoperative hours. Secondary outcomes include postoperative pain intensity, time to first analgesic request, quadriceps muscle strength, functional recovery, postoperative recovery quality, postoperative nausea and vomiting, patient and surgeon satisfaction, length of hospital stay, and block-related complications.

Serum Fetuin-A and COMP Levels in Knee Osteoarthritis

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the clinical and radiographic severity of knee osteoarthritis (OA) and the serum levels of specific biomarkers, namely Fetuin-A and Cartilage Oligomeric Matrix Protein (COMP). Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease characterized by cartilage breakdown and low-grade inflammation. Investigating these biomarkers may help healthcare providers better understand the disease pathology, potentially leading to earlier diagnosis and improved tracking of disease progression. The study will compare two distinct groups: a patient group consisting of 120 individuals diagnosed with Grade 2-4 knee osteoarthritis, and a control group of 60 age- and sex-matched healthy volunteers with no history of joint disorders. Participants will undergo radiographic evaluations using the Kellgren-Lawrence classification system, alongside clinical and functional assessments, including pain severity scales, mobility metrics, and functional questionnaires. Fasting blood samples will be collected from all participants to measure serum Fetuin-A and COMP levels via laboratory analysis, and the Systemic Inflammation Response Index (SIRI) will be calculated. The collected data will be statistically analyzed to determine if biomarker levels significantly correlate with the severity of knee joint degeneration and functional impairment.

The Effect of the DASH Diet on Clinical and Metabolic Parameters in Children With MASLD

Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD) in childhood is becoming increasingly prevalent, paralleling the rise in obesity rates, and has become the most common chronic liver disease in the pediatric population. MASLD is associated with metabolic mechanisms such as insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, oxidative stress, and inflammation, and can progress to serious complications like steatohepatitis, fibrosis, and cirrhosis in later stages. Currently, pharmacological treatments for managing MASLD are limited, and lifestyle modifications, particularly dietary interventions, stand out as the primary approach for preventing and treating the disease. In this context, the composition of macro and micronutrients plays a critical role in the development and progression of hepatic steatosis. Within this framework, the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet is a balanced eating pattern that encourages the consumption of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, low-fat dairy products, fish, poultry, and healthy fat sources, while limiting sodium, saturated fat, sugary foods, and processed meat products. Similar to the Mediterranean diet, the DASH diet is a promising approach for conditions like metabolic syndrome and MASLD due to its anti-inflammatory potential, its reducing effect on oxidative stress, and its properties that enhance insulin sensitivity. Furthermore, thanks to its high fiber content, it contributes to balancing the gut microbiota and supports the production of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), which in turn have positive effects on liver and metabolic health. Evaluated in terms of fat intake, the DASH diet's emphasis on foods rich in n-3 fatty acids (such as fish and walnuts) provides an anti-inflammatory effect, while limiting saturated and trans fats offers an important strategy for reducing hepatic fat accumulation. Additionally, restricting the consumption of added sugars and fructose may be effective in preventing hepatic steatosis by suppressing lipogenesis processes. In light of all these scientific findings, considering the impact of dietary patterns on the development and progression of MASLD, appropriately structuring the diet is critically important for protecting liver health in children. Accordingly, an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and metabolically balanced DASH dietary model is considered an effective and applicable approach in the management of pediatric MASLD. Within the scope of this study, the effects of implementing the DASH diet in children with MASLD on clinical and metabolic parameters such as liver enzymes, degree of hepatic steatosis, insulin resistance, lipid profile, and inflammatory markers will be evaluated compared to a control group. Additionally, by examining the relationships between these parameters and quality of life as well as dietary adherence, the potential therapeutic role of the DASH diet in the management of pediatric MASLD will be elucidated.
