The Effect of Channa Striata and Curcuma Supplementation on Nutritional Status, Interleukin-6 Levels, and Quality of Life in Patients With Breast Cancer.

Breast cancer is frequently accompanied by chronic inflammation, malnutrition, and reduced quality of life, all of which may compromise treatment response and clinical outcomes. Nutritional interventions with immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties have the potential to improve these conditions. Channa striata is rich in high-quality protein, albumin, and essential amino acids that support nutritional recovery and tissue repair, while Curcuma contains curcumin, a bioactive compound with well-established anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. This study aims to evaluate the effect of combined Channa striata and Curcuma supplementation on nutritional status, serum interleukin-6 (IL-6) levels, and quality of life in patients with breast cancer undergoing treatment. The findings are expected to provide evidence for the use of this nutritional supplementation as a complementary strategy to improve clinical outcomes, reduce systemic inflammation, and enhance the overall well-being of breast cancer patients.

The Effects of Structured Lactation Nutrition Education and Dali ni Horbo Supplementation on Maternal Nutritional Intake, Breastfeeding Practices, Infant Growth, and Gut Microbiota: A Randomized Controlled Trial

This randomized controlled trial aims to evaluate the effects of structured lactation nutrition education combined with Dali ni Horbo supplementation on maternal dietary intake, breastfeeding practices, infant growth, and infant gut microbiota. Lactating mothers with healthy infants aged 0-1 month will be recruited from selected primary healthcare centers in Medan, Indonesia, and assigned to an intervention or control group. The intervention group will receive structured nutrition education and daily Dali ni Horbo, a traditional Batak fermented buffalo milk product, while the control group will receive standard care. Maternal energy and nutrient intake, nutritional knowledge and attitudes, exclusive breastfeeding practices, maternal and infant anthropometric measurements, intervention adherence, adverse effects, and infant fecal microbiota composition will be assessed before and after the intervention. This study is expected to determine whether integrating nutrition education with a nutrient-dense local food can improve maternal nutritional adequacy, support exclusive breastfeeding, promote optimal infant growth, and beneficially influence early-life gut microbiota.

The Effect of Structured Medical Nutrition Therapy on Systemic Inflammation Index in Patients With Schizophrenia Receiving Antipsychotic Therapy

Patients with schizophrenia receiving long-term antipsychotic therapy are at increased risk of chronic low-grade inflammation and metabolic disturbances, which contribute to poor physical health outcomes and increased cardiovascular morbidity. Structured Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT), consisting of individualized nutrition assessment, dietary intervention, nutrition education, and regular monitoring, has the potential to improve dietary quality and modulate systemic inflammation. This study aims to evaluate the effect of Structured Medical Nutrition Therapy on the Systemic Inflammation Index (SII), a novel inflammatory biomarker derived from neutrophil, lymphocyte, and platelet counts, in patients with schizophrenia receiving antipsychotic therapy. It is hypothesized that patients receiving structured MNT will demonstrate a greater reduction in SII compared with those receiving standard nutritional care, supporting the integration of evidence-based nutritional interventions into the comprehensive management of schizophrenia to improve metabolic and inflammatory outcomes.

Prediabetes is a metabolic condition associated with increased risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Intermittent fasting (IF) has emerged as a potential dietary intervention to improve metabolic health, yet comparative evidence among different IF patterns remains limited. This randomized controlled trial aims to evaluate the effects of three intermittent fasting regimens-5:2 fasting, alternate-day fasting, and time-restricted feeding-compared with a control diet on metabolic parameters, inflammatory markers, body composition, and nutrigenomic profiles in adults with prediabetes.
