Aromatherapy and Massage After Cesarean Delivery: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Cesarean delivery is a common surgical procedure associated with postoperative pain, anxiety, and reduced maternal comfort during the early postpartum period. Non-pharmacological interventions such as aromatherapy and massage have been suggested as supportive approaches for improving maternal well-being; however, further evidence is needed regarding their effectiveness after cesarean delivery. This randomized controlled trial aims to evaluate the effects of aromatherapy inhalation and aromatherapy-assisted back massage on postoperative pain, anxiety, and postpartum comfort in women after cesarean delivery. Participants who meet the eligibility criteria will be randomly assigned to three groups: an aromatherapy inhalation group, an aromatherapy-assisted back massage group, and a placebo group receiving sterile water inhalation as a simulation. Interventions will be initiated after cesarean delivery, and outcomes will be assessed using the Visual Analog Scale for pain intensity, the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory for anxiety level, and the Postpartum Comfort Scale for comfort level. This study is expected to provide information about the potential contribution of complementary non-pharmacological interventions to maternal recovery after cesarean delivery.

High-power Laser Therapy for Notalgia Paresthetica.

A non-invasive modality for the management of neuromusculoskeletal pain conditions that has emerged as a compelling option is high-power laser therapy (HPLT). The pathophysiology of notalgia paresthetica (NP) is treated uniquely by HPLT, which targets both the presumed muscular component of nerve entrapment and the resultant neuropathic symptoms. The main goal of this study, which is randomised, controlled and blinded by assessors, is to find out how well High-Power Laser Therapy (HPLT) works as an extra treatment to standard care in reducing itching, pain and improving quality of life for patients with long-term nerve pain.

Peloid Therapy in Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction

This prospective, single-group clinical study will evaluate whether local peloid therapy improves pain and jaw function in adults with temporomandibular joint dysfunction. Participants will receive peloid therapy applied to the temporomandibular joint region and masticatory muscles for 20 minutes per session, 5 days per week, for 2 weeks. Pain and functional outcomes will be measured at baseline and at the end of treatment using validated clinical scales, including the Jaw Functional Limitation Scale-8, visual analog scale pain scores, Fonseca index, maximum mouth opening, and secondary otalgia assessment.

Cognitive Reserve and Post-Fatigue Recovery in Older Adults

As people grow older, it is common to experience a drop in physical stamina and memory functions. This can make recovering from daily physical and mental fatigue more difficult, which directly impacts an individual's independent daily life and overall quality of life. "Cognitive reserve" is a term that describes the brain's built-in resilience. Built over a lifetime through education, work, and social activities, a higher cognitive reserve acts like a buffer, helping the brain adapt to stress and aging. While research shows that a high cognitive reserve protects against conditions like dementia, we still do not fully understand how it helps older adults bounce back from normal, everyday physical and mental exhaustion. The goal of this study is to investigate how cognitive reserve levels influence how individuals aged 65 and older perceive their recovery after experiencing physical and mental fatigue. What the Study Involves The researchers will evaluate participants aged 65 and older to measure their baseline cognitive reserve levels. The study will look closely at how these levels affect the participants': Ability to cope with daily physical and mental fatigue. Need for rest and rest patterns. Time and ability to return to normal daily activities. Overall perception of their mental and physical recovery. Expected Outcome By understanding this relationship, the study aims to fill a gap in medical literature and help healthcare providers design better, more personalized rehabilitation and lifestyle support programs to improve the quality of life for older adults.

The Efficacy of High-Power Laser Therapy in Meralgia Paresthetica

The management of MP typically follows a conservative pathway, encompassing patient education, lifestyle modifications (e.g., avoidance of tight garments, weight loss), pharmacotherapy (such as neuropathic pain agents or corticosteroid injections), and physical therapy. However, evidence supporting the efficacy of these interventions is largely anecdotal or derived from low-quality studies, and a substantial proportion of patients experience persistent symptoms refractory to standard care. Therefore, the primary objective of this randomized, sham-controlled, assessor-blinded study is to investigate the efficacy of HPLT as an adjunct to standard conservative care on pain intensity, sensory symptoms, and functional capacity in patients with chronic Meralgia Paresthetica. The investigators hypothesize that patients receiving active HPLT will demonstrate significantly greater improvements in these outcomes compared to those receiving a sham laser procedure

Exercise Therapy for Isotretinoin Users

Isotretinoin (13-cis retinoic acid) is a retinoic acid that is a derivative of vitamin A. Isotretinoin has been used effectively alone in acne treatment for 35 years. However, it has many side effects. Among the musculoskeletal side effects of this treatment, acute sacroileitis is a common condition. In this clinical picture, recovery may last for a few months after discontinuation of isotretinoin treatment. However, it may become permanent in some cases. According to our current knowledge, there is no study in the literature that prescribes exercise therapy for this patient group. This study, planned to investigate the effects of stretching and sacroiliac mobilization exercises on musculoskeletal pain and quality of life, which are among the side effects of isotretinoin treatment.

The Effects of Breathing Exercises and Music Intervention During Labor on Pain Perception, Birth Expectations, and Birth Satisfaction in Primiparous Women

This randomized controlled trial aimed to evaluate the effects of music listening and breathing exercises during labor on pain perception, birth expectations, and birth satisfaction among primiparous women. This randomized controlled trial was conducted in the delivery unit of a hospital located in the Inner Aegean Region of Turkey. The study included 90 primiparous pregnant women admitted for vaginal delivery. Participants without visual, auditory, or neurological impairments were included and randomly assigned into three groups: music intervention group, breathing exercise group, and control group (n=30 in each group). Participants were randomly assigned to one of three groups (Music Intervention, Breathing Exercise, Control) using a computer-generated randomization sequence. Allocation concealment was ensured by using sealed, opaque envelopes prepared by a researcher who was not involved in participant recruitment or assessment. In the music intervention group, participants were introduced to 12 music tracks at 36 weeks of gestation during childbirth preparation classes. Short samples of these tracks were played during the class, and the full tracks were then shared with participants via WhatsApp to encourage regular listening at home. During the prenatal period, participants received regular WhatsApp reminders every few days to listen to the music. During labor, participants were encouraged to listen to music whenever they wished. Additionally, at 4 cm, 6 cm, and 8 cm cervical dilation, all participants in this group listened to their preferred tracks from the playlist for 20 minutes. Pain intensity was measured using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) before and after each music session. In the breathing exercise group, Lamaze breathing techniques were taught during prenatal classes and practiced throughout the labor process. They were encouraged to practice these exercises throughout labor. At 4, 6, and 8 cm cervical dilation, guided breathing exercises were conducted, and pain was assessed using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) before and after each exercise. In the control group, participants received routine maternity care. VAS pain assessments were conducted at the same cervical dilation points (4, 6, and 8 cm), without any additional interventions. For all participants, the durations of the first, second, and third stages of labor were recorded and compared across groups. In the postpartum period, the Birth Expectation Scale and Birth Satisfaction Scale were administered. Study data included sociodemographic information, VAS pain scores, and scores from the birth expectation and satisfaction scales.

The Effect of Emotional Freedom Technique on Psychological Health and Well-being in People With Type 2 Diabetes.

Type 2 diabetes is a major meatbolic condition. People living with Type 2 diabetes come across a wide range of health issues, including psychological health. Specifically, diabetes distress are in high levels among them. Diabetes distress is associated with psychological states such as anxiety, lower levels of self-care, and higher hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) levels. The Emotional Freedom Technique consists of cognitive and somatic components and is used to heal an individual's negative emotions and manage associated emotional and physical disorders. The basic principle of this technique is to regulate the flow of energy by stimulating the meridian system and to relax the individual while focusing on the emotional reactions that lead to disability. Although the prevalence of psychological problems associated with T2DM and diabetes is increasing, there are not enough studies showing the effect of Emotional Freedom Technique on the psychological well-being of T2DM individuals.
