hepatomiR cACLD Study

This study looks to gather data on hepatomiR, a CE-certified test already intended for gauging liver-related outcomes, in order to define a cut-off regarding specific decompensation events (ascites, variceal hemorrhage, hepatic encephalopathy) in chronic liver disease (CLD). Based on these data, it is aimed to advance the current understanding of factors driving decompensation, with potential repercussions for future risk management and therapy.

Influence of Donor and Recipient Genetic Polymorphisms on Graft Steatosis After Liver Transplant

MASH (Metabolic Dysfunction-associated Steatohepatitis) is among the most common indications for liver transplantation.The metabolic syndrome persists after liver transplant and is often further exacerbated among MAFLD patients, thereby leading to recurrence of MAFLD in the allograft. MAFLD is a complex phenotype, dynamic interactions between both genetic and environmental factors are likely to shape disease susceptibility and progression. Genetic and epidemiological studies, indicates strong heritability of hepatic fat content.Family studies demonstrate that first degree relatives of patients with MAFLD are at a much higher risk of the disease than the general population.Most of the data available is regarding Deceased Donor Liver Transplant and Western population.Most studies have studied single gene variant but fatty liver is a polygenic trait.No study was done exclusively in MASH recipients. In this study we aim to study the effect of recipient and donor PNPLA3, MBOAT7 gene variations, and other clinical \& laboratory data on graft liver steatosis in liver transplant recipients. We also propose to compare the outcomes of genetically related donors vs unrelated donors, to know the influence of genetic factors vis-a-vis environmental factors.

Living donor liver transplantation is widely accepted as an life-saving treatment for patients with end-stage liver diseases. Careful donor selection is essential to maximize the success and minimize the risk of postoperative complications in donors and recipients. Mapping of biliary anatomy is one of the critical assessments for donor selection and surgical planning ,Biliary reconstruction is considered as the "Achilles heel" of liver transplantation and adequate imaging assessment of biliary anatomy can largely benefit the biliary anastomosis. Preoperative imaging assessment of biliary anatomy is good for the selection of donors but may not indispensable for surgical planning and Intraoperative confirmative assessment of biliary anatomy with IOC was essential

Impact of Liver Transplantation on Sexual Life and Function

Liver Transplantation (LT) is a lifesaving intervention with around 90% of recipients currently surviving the first postoperative year and subsequent life expectancy now exceeding 20 years. After the post-operative recovery period, however, LT recipients become more and more confronted with the challenges of re-engagement with life after transplantation, a need to reach a new stability, reestablish function in everyday life, reconnect with valued roles, regain independence, and resume work Sexual function is a very important parameter in the evaluation of Quality of Life (QoL), as it has been shown that sexual dysfunction in transplant patients is associated with increased depression and decreased QoL. There are several studies in the relevant literature supporting the recovery of sexual function in patients after liver transplantation. It has been found that recovery was observed in erectile dysfunction in male patients 6 months after liver transplantation.
