TENS Use for Post-cesarean Pain Management

The aim of this randomized controlled trial is to evaluate the effectiveness of continuous 24-hour Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) as an adjunct to standard postoperative care for pain management following cesarean delivery. Eligible women undergoing cesarean delivery under spinal anesthesia will be randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to either the intervention group, which will receive continuous TENS in addition to standard postoperative analgesia, or the control group, which will receive standard postoperative analgesia alone. The primary outcome is the Quality of Recovery-15 (QoR-15) score assessed 24 hours after cesarean delivery.

TENS for Postpartum Uterine Pain During Breastfeeding

This clinical study is designed to evaluate whether Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) is an effective, non-drug method to relieve postpartum uterine pain during breastfeeding in multiparous women (women who have given birth multiple times). Breastfeeding in the first 48 hours after delivery often triggers strong, painful uterine contractions due to the natural release of oxytocin. While standard care typically relies on pain-relief medications, this study investigates if TENS, a safe, low-cost device that sends gentle electrical impulses through small skin patches, can significantly reduce this pain and decrease the need for systemic medications. Participants will be randomly assigned to either receive standard postpartum pain medications or use a TENS device during two consecutive breastfeeding sessions. Researchers will measure and compare the peak pain levels between both groups using a standard 0 to 10 pain scale. The aim is examining whether TENS will significantly reduce postpartum uterine pain during breastfeeding and decrease medication use compared with standard care.

Maternal Outcomes Following Manual Lysis of the Placenta.

Comparison of maternal outcomes following manual lysis of placenta 15 vs 30 minutes after delivery. A primary outcome of the drop in hemoglobin will be compared between the two groups. Secondary outcomes include blood transfusion rate, maternal satisfaction, time to first breastfeeding, length of hospital stay, infection rate etc.

Evaluation of Blood Loss After Cesarean Delivery Via US Compared to Standard Care

Postpartum hemorrhage and anemia are considered a major health concern due to their impact on maternal morbidity and mortality, quality of life, and maternal cognitive and emotional functioning after delivery, which are particularly important during the critical period of mother-child bonding. Hemoglobin levels in the first 24 hours after delivery do not reflect the lowest point (nadir). The postpartum nadir occurs 48-72 hours after delivery due to the initial redistribution of plasma volume. The aim of this study was to examine whether postpartum ultrasound examination precedes laboratory test results in the diagnosis of anemia due to blood loss after cesarean section.

Ultrasound for Assessment of Intra-Abdominal Blood Loss After Gynecological Surgery

This is a prospective cohort study designed to assess intra-abdominal blood volume and hemodynamic status by measuring the diameter of the inferior vena cava (IVC) using 3D and Doppler ultrasound within 24 hours after gynecological surgery. The study will examine the association between these ultrasound findings and postoperative outcomes, including hemoglobin drop, need for blood transfusion, pain, infection, and length of hospitalization. Approximately 250 women undergoing laparotomy, laparoscopy, or vaginal surgery at Holy Family Hospital will be enrolled. The study also aimed to define postoperative normograms for fluid volume and IVC parameters and to evaluate whether ultrasound-guided decision-making could improve postoperative care and reduce unnecessary interventions.

The goal of this randomized controlled trial is to examine the impact of programmed intermittent bolus epidural analgesia technique on the incidence of breakthrough pain during labor in multiparous women compared to continuous epidural infusion. multiparous women will randomly be divided during labor into two groups; study group will receive mix of Bupivacaine and fentanyl once (bolus) every 60 minutes; the control group will receive continuously the same dose during an hour, until delivery.

Castor Oil Ingestion and Balloon Catheter for Labor Induction in Multiparous

The goal of this randomized controlled trial is to examine the efficacy of combining castor oil ingestion with extra-amniotic single balloon catheter for cervical ripening on time from induction to delivery in multiparous women. The main question it aims to answer are: Does the addition of the use of castor oil to extra-amniotic single balloon reduce the time until birth? Does the addition of the castor oil affect other perinatal outcomes during childbirth? Are the side effects of the castor tolerated by the mothers? Participants will be randomly divided into 2 groups: the study group will drink a mixture of 60 ml of castor oil mixed with 140 ml of orange juice. Thirty minutes later, extra-amniotic single balloon catheter will be inserted above the internal cervical os and filled with 60 mL of normal saline. In the control group, the catheter will be inserted into cervical canal without ingestion of castor oil.
