Evaluation of the Ability of Lactobacillus Crispatus CRP21 to Reduce the Incidence of Recurrent Bacterial Vaginosis

Recurrent bacterial vaginosis is a common condition in women of reproductive age and is characterized by a disruption of the normal vaginal microbiota, with a reduction in Lactobacillus species and an overgrowth of anaerobic bacteria such as Gardnerella vaginalis. Recurrence rates after standard antibiotic treatment are high. Lactobacillus crispatus is considered one of the most protective species for maintaining vaginal microbiota balance. This multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a probiotic supplement containing Lactobacillus crispatus CRP21 (Crispavag® capsules) in reducing the incidence of recurrent bacterial vaginosis in women diagnosed with recurrent bacterial vaginosis. After standard antibiotic treatment, participants will be randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to receive either the probiotic supplement or a placebo for 12 weeks. The primary objective is to evaluate whether supplementation with Lactobacillus crispatus CRP21 reduces the incidence of recurrent bacterial vaginosis episodes compared with placebo. Participants will be followed for a total of 24 weeks, including a 12-week treatment period and a 12-week follow-up period.

Bactorinol® Nasal Spray With Reduced-Dose Mometasone in Adults With Chronic Rhinosinusitis

Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a persistent inflammatory disease of the nose and sinuses, defined by the presence of symptoms for at least 12 weeks. Medical treatment of CRS is mainly based on topical therapies aimed at controlling mucosal inflammation and improving naso-sinus clearance. However, despite these treatments, some patients continue to experience persistent or recurrent symptoms. This prospective, single-center, randomized, controlled, non-profit study aims to evaluate the clinical efficacy of Bactorinol® nasal spray in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis, in order to reduce the impact of CRS symptoms on patients' quality of life in a non-inferior manner compared with treatment with the full dose of mometasone furoate nasal spray. Participants will be randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to receive mometasone furoate nasal spray 1 puff daily plus Bactorinol® nasal spray 3 puffs per nostril twice daily, or mometasone furoate nasal spray 2 puffs daily. The treatment period will last 12 weeks.

EVALUATION OF SALIVA AS LIQUID BIOPSY FOR EARLY DETECTION OF ORAL CANCER IN PATIENTS WITH ORAL-SUBMUCOUS FIBROSIS (OSMF)

Oral cancer is the top cancer in Pakistan, accounting for 27%, and it has a high mortality rate due to late-stage diagnosis. It primarily affects the lips, tongue, cheeks, and floor of the mouth. Major risk factor for oral cancer development is pan supari chhaliya chewing. Patients often develop a pre-malignant condition, oral submucous fibrosis, resulting in limited mouth opening. Thus, patients are diagnosed at an advanced level and poor survival. Therefore, saliva appears a potential mode of evaluation for early detection. This project aims to evaluate salivary cells, genes and biochemistry of the saliva among health volunteers and compare it with that of the patients with oral submucous fibrosis and oral cancer.
