The reason for the recognised lack of epidemiological data of all NO conditions presenting to eye departments is attributed to the fact that they often fall in the grey zones between neuro-ophthalmologists, neurosurgeons and neurologists. . It is anticipated that the findings of the study may then help to support better service planning and resource allocation, as well as identifying any early recognition of rare or emerging patterns.

Single-centre retrospective analysis of prospectively collected data with propensity matched scoring groups (AKI v/s non-AKI). Data collection from databases (or their equivalent): PATS Dendrite, Electronic Medical Records, TD-web (results Portal), MedTrack (ICU database), iSite (Radiology), SPY (Long-term status)

This study will describe the use of triplet therapy with daratumumab, lenalidomide and dexamethasone (DRd) in the treatment of for transplant ineligible (TIE) untreated myeloma outside of clinical trials and assess the associated clinical outcomes.

This study will use surveys within primary and secondary care to explore referral patterns and healthcare professional (HCP) decision-making and advice for haematological malignancies, identify inequalities, and establish best practice for CLL referrals and specialist support. The project will allow us to understand and 'map' variations in practice across the West Midlands region with regard to referrals for CLL from primary care physicians to haematology services in secondary care. Specific objectives are to: 1. Identify service variations by using surveys to assess differences in CLL service provision across primary and secondary care in the West Midlands 2. Investigate service variations by describing the key characteristics of responding primary care practices (practice size, number of GPs, Integrated Care Board (ICB) locality, deprivation quartile) 3. Propose strategies to improve equity that will enhanced patient outcomes and reduce inequalities in care for CLL patients, aiming to ensure consistent standards for referral and management across different care settings.

People with Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) can get challenging symptoms. Things like diarrhoea, tummy pain and being tired all the time are common. People often get IBD in their teens or twenties. They often find working, studying and relationships hard. IBD can't be cured, so it lasts for life. When IBD is hard to treat, we use advanced treatments, but these don't always work. When they do work the effect can wear off. This happens in 2 of 5 people within a year in research studies. There are some things that we know make them wear off. There are lots more reasons that we don't understand yet. We think anxiety, depression and stress make these treatments more likely to wear off. Previous research has suggested that people with IBD do worse if they have anxiety, depression or stress. The investigators want people with IBD to complete questionnaires to see if they are affected by anxiety, depression or stress when they are taking advanced therapies. The investigators will follow those people to see if the effect of their treatment wears off. People living with IBD will contribute to the running and fine tuning of this research. Many of those that have engaged with us so far have said that their disease was worse when their mental health was worse. They were generally supportive of this study to see how anxiety, depression and stress effects IBD in people using advanced therapies. The investigators have talked to a national charity about our work. They will help share the findings so that patients, care givers and other stakeholders will be able to read about them. The results will be published so that doctors and researchers can use them.

Vitiligo is the most common depigmentation disorder affecting around 1% of the population worldwide. Fifty two percent of patients develop vitiligo before the age of 20 and around 80% develop vitiligo before the age of 30 years old.1 Vitiligo often presents in childhood and tends to be a lifelong disease, requiring prolonged courses of phototherapy. Currently no national or international registry for patients with vitiligo exists. Individual dermatologists maintain a database of such patients, however no coordinated efforts have been made to combine these individual registries into a broader national registry. Finally, recently published British Association of Dermatologists (BAD) guideline for the management of vitiligo, recommended the development of a national registry for people with vitiligo undergoing systemic or light therapy to identify outcomes and safety.

Accidentally retained surgical items or swabs are well-recognised errors that result in adverse consequences for patients. This error is one of the commonest "Never Events" - patient safety incidents that are considered preventable. Although uncommon, these incidents can have devastating consequences. Retained surgical items have 70% re-interventions, reaching 80% morbidity and 35% mortality. Swabs or sponges are like small towels that soak up blood and body fluids so that the surgeon can visualise the operating area effectively. Swabs are used in all areas of surgery which include operations on the tummy, chest, limbs. They are also used in the vagina during childbirth, to assess for tears and to minimise blood oozing from the vagina. The common risk factors for this error are out of hours surgical or childbirth procedures, multiple handovers in the care of the patient, raised BMI (Body Mass Index) and unplanned change to the operative intervention. As the name suggests, a 'never event' should never happen in the first place. Never. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Incidents involving surgical swabs being left behind, particularly during a caesarean section or a perineal repair following a vaginal birth, are still happening despite over 100 years of institutional awareness of the problem and tentative solutions being implemented in clinical practice. never-event incidents involving retained surgical swabs are a widespread problem affecting healthcare systems worldwide. It is therefore reasonable to ask the question: why are surgical swabs being left behind and what can be done to prevent this from happening?

The outlook for patients with haematological malignancies remains challenging. It has been shown in some early cancer studies that a particular drug called Zn-DDC otherwise known as Imuthiol is highly toxic to cancer stem cells. Imuthiol has been intravenously used in clinical trials with an excellent safety record. Recent novel therapy and immunotherapy in haematological malignancies have improved outcome and survival but come with an increasing cost burden. Imuthiol could be an ideal affordable drug to study on it's own as well as in combination with other drugs in myeloma and other haematological malignancies. This may lead to potential combination therapies which will be very effective as well as affordable in the future. There is the need to look to see if this drug, Imuthiol and along with complementary drugs lenalidomide (Revlimid) and pomalidomide (Pomalyst) can help in haematological malignancy treatment. In order to do this there is the need to see how the cancer cells respond to the drugs in the laboratory before being able to trial the drug (or combination of drugs) out for treatment. The success of this study may lead to quick translation of Imuthiol into haematological malignancy treatment.

To investigate the clinical utility of both 3D and 2D artificial intelligence reconstruction echocardiography (V-echo and L-echo) assessment against conventional echocardiography and clinical cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging for the characterisation of cardiac function and detection of cardiotoxicity in patients receiving chemotherapy. Diagnostic accuracy of V-echo and L-echo for quantification of cardiac chamber sizes and systolic function (left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and strain analyses) versus conventional echocardiography (C-echo) and CMR; workflow measures including imaging temporal measures of image acquisition, registration and analysis versus conventional approaches; survey of markers of acceptability by patients and sonographers; cost effectiveness analysis of V-echo and L-echo versus conventional echocardiography; assessment of the relationship between 3D strain parameters derived from V-echo data, 2D strain parameters derived from L-echo and correlation with conventional markers of cardiac function, namely LVEF and global longitudinal strain.

Test an existing digital health app, called Albert Health, designed to support patients with a newly inserted feeding tube to use and manage their tube care, in a feasibility study. The feasibility study will evaluate the acceptability, usability and accessibility of the app in preparation for a randomised controlled trial.

To evaluate the user confidence in the confirmation of correct counts using a novel device and to assess clinical usability of the device during surgery.

Cornea ectatic conditions such as keratoconus and post-LASIK (Laser In situ Keratomileusis) ectasia are disorders of the eye that are notorious for its uncontrolled progression over time, leading to loss of vision. There are valuable treatment options for controlling disease progression in mild to moderate stages of such disease. However in advanced cases and / or when contact lenses cannot be worn, surgery remains the only treatment option to rehabilitate vision. Most treatment options are highly invasive and represent significant risks. This study evaluates a novel corneal implant, Gebauer™ Lenticule to treat severe keratoconus or post-LASIK ectasia. This implant is derived from porcine collagen and intended for intra-stromal insertion. The Gebauer™ Lenticule is expected to improve the stability of the cornea while not impairing the vision. The procedure is an additive procedure after other treatment options have been exhausted. The procedure is reversible with removal of the implant (in the unexpected case of an adverse reaction), and vision may be restored to baseline. The purpose of this study is to evaluate how well the implant is tolerated, it's safety profile, and how effective this new treatment option is in the treatment of keratoconus or post-LASIK ectasia.
